Among the Sleep - Ending [HD] 

It shows how, no matter how horrible the mom was to the 2 year old, he was trying to recollect memories of the time when her mom was happy and not abusive. The baby still loved his mom (also due to the fact that he caressed her hair even after she pushed him away) Children will always love you. :(( overall just a sad, game honestly.

Most terrifying moment of the game was mum saying: "Stay away from me" to her own 2yo, imagine that if u were the baby

This is a powerful message for adults, told through the perspective of a child. For when you become neglectful and detached, your child no longer recognizes you as the nurturing figure you made yourself out to be. You may as well be a monster, because that's how your child sees you when you are no longer yourself.

small detail: i like how the boxes have gibberish labeled on them because at the age of 2 most people can't read, so it's the same thing as looking at a language you dont know. undecipherable gibberish.

The ending was so sad. It's upsetting to see how much of a good mother she was, but to then see she was spoilt by addiction.

Dunno if anyone noticed this. But in the PS4 version of this game she completely blames the toddler, as right at the end she says "I'm sorry I never meant to" and instead of saying "it's too much" she says "but you never listen"

Ah okay Mum was nice at first but then gave into addiction, becoming an abusive alcoholic so the dad took him away from her, you can see she was drinking and hit you when you grabbed teddy It was all physiological, in the babies imagination viewing things different, the mum was a monster because that what she was on the inside The teddy and the dad had the same voice so you viewed dad as teddy who protected you and was nice to you with you all the way It all makes sense

The way the mom turns into a monster lady is by :drinking,anger and seeing the dad (divorced dad)

When I was a young girl I didn't know what was happening. My mom was the teddy and my dad was the monster. My dad did drugs and alcohol I didn't know until I was a teenager. My mom was very patient and sweet and always tried to make a better life for us. Finally after 5 years my mom got a divorce from my dad and we finally were happy. When I saw this scene it made me very happy and I cried I totally related to this. 😌

Even when the mother pushed the baby away he/she comforts her. I find it warm because even if a person like the mother treats us in a way like that, they're the one who raised us and we're still thankful. GG among the sleep :) ♥

This ending made me want to cry, but it shows how even gaming can address the serious situations and convert it to something everyone can understand....F*CKED UP THAT THEY MADE IT A SURVIVAL HORROR THOUGH!!

I think this ending taught me two very important lessons: Don’t take your loved ones for granted, and that you will eventually find someone who loves you and will take good care of you. 😌☺️😻

2:00 I love the option to pet the mother's hair to comfort her, it just so sweet and cute. It somewhat reminds me when I would do that to my mother when I felt like she was upset when I was a little kid.

I’ve never been really abused by either of my parents, but still went through some hardship as a child. This somehow sparked some kind of childhood memory and it made me feel really sad for some reason.

The darkness in this game resembles the game itself: Dark.

Theory: The mother and father had a child,they divorced and the lady went to court to have the baby stay with her. Each time on the baby's birthday,she tries to kill him/her. When ever the baby sees the scary creature like lady, the screen shakes indicating that the baby scared of the mother, so he sees her as a monster. In the picture frame, of the lady getting'a sip from the well and turning evil,is a reference to the mother's drinking habits and when ever she drinks, she becomes a *monster* .The teddy bear is a gift from the father, which explains why the mother always wants to get rid of it because sh regrets having his child. At the end, when the baby reaches to take the teddy bear,the mother pushes her/him away which makes the screen shake,just like how it shakes when the baby sees the dark figure like lady. The cloak that this figure wore, is the mother.She wears this to either, A: kill the baby, B: Drink without the baby seeing,or C: nick-pick on other men. Towards the end,When the mom sees how much the baby really cares, she cries regetting all the things she tried to do to her own child. She regrets divorcing her hsuband (or boyfriend idk), trying to kill her child, drug her child and etc. The father eventually comes back in the end and takes the child with him for a better life,while the mother is sentence to jail for child abuse, child neglect, and drug usage on underaged children. Edit: Ik this comment is 3 years old but I have a new theory 💀… The baby is in a coma. Hence why the title is called “Among The Sleep”.. he’s in a coma and the entire game is a mix of his memories and him dreaming. Here’s what I think happened.. The mom and dad divorced.. she got custody and he got visitation rights.. The mom figured having a baby would keep him with her, but it didn’t so now she bares the burden of a “pointless child” but she realizes that she does indeed need the baby inorder to keep the father around… Because a baby’s natural instinct is to trust and follow their mother, he dreams of her being the nicest person alive (the birthday comes from the first time he’s had a birthday I think he’s 2 in the game). He remembers his 2nd birthday hence why he’s dreaming and remembering at the same time. His 1st birthday was spent with his father AND mother (hence how 1. The teddy bears seems to act like a father figure and 2. He remembers the mom being a nice lady). However, with dreams also come nightmares. Since he’s in a coma and his memories are infused with dreaming.. he remembers everything she did.. She’s an alcoholic to “cope” with the fact her baby daddy doesn’t love her.. (hence why at the end the father checks on ONLY the baby, not her). Basically, on the day of his 2nd birthday, the father couldn’t make it. She figured he’d come since it’s his son’s birthday and she could be around him. It doesn’t work. So she starts drinking, leaving the baby unattended with the teddy bear who seems to solely protect him. Each time he’d whine for her for like diaper change, feeding, etc she’d harm him either by pushing him really hard or throwing him into his crib (where she originally put him). The monster is her. The baby seems to remember that she’d only harm him when she has a bottle/cup in hand, so he learns to steer away from her. When she realizes that the baby is seemingly avoiding her, she steady tries to come around him. Now these are memories and dreams infused (or you could say memories acting as dreams). That’s why in his dream, he always runs away from the monster aka the mother because she’s drinking. The toys and things he collects are basically toys he played with before ending up in a coma. Now, how did he end up in a coma? She hit him too hard. It’s obvious she has hit the baby before and instantly regretted it by crying because she does it in the end. She puts him in a coma on his 2nd birthday when she’s in a drunken rage after the baby avoids her, she shakes him violently while screaming “why don’t you love me?!” And hits him in the head, putting him in a coma. The ending is the baby waking up from the coma and being greeted/taken away by dad. The reason the mom started crying after shoving the baby was most likely because she realizes she’s pushing away the people she loves from her baby daddy to her actual baby. The games ending of the baby being taken away by dad is him waking up from the coma and leaving with dada. I think that’s what’s going on idk for sure but if it is damn it’s a very sad story in a warmish game 😭 ALSO.. the reason you “die” when the monster gets you is because he remembers how she got him and knocked him into a coma.. when the monster gets you, she knocks you into a coma…

Even though I like to think the Dad came back for the baby, the ending is still bittersweet. The child loved his mom, of course he would, she is his mother. But she didn’t care about her kid and he doesn’t understand that yet.

As a person who's parent was an addict i feel like this game is the perfect way to spread awearnes against this sort of stuff so more kids dont have to live and grow up with abuse and fearing their own parents

Actually his father was the trench coat "monster" that tried to save him multiple times while yes the mother was the swamp monster that ran after him...does explain it better? the teddy bear was just part of his imagination, so apparently almost everything was part of his imagination.

As a person who was born from drug addicted and alcoholic parents (Mom and Dad) even during my time in the womb they did these things, i can say without a doubt that this really done make me cry my eyes out... because i remember being yelled at by my dad (and probably my mom) when i was still a baby... they're better now but... damn i just feel for this kid... being a fictional game or not...

I know there’s a version where the baby says “Daddy” after the dad talks to him at the door.

This is both a sad and a good ending. The baby is taken away by his father where he can live happily in a good environment instead of around his abusive mother.

This is so sad, and what makes it even more sad is that this can happen to some families. Whether it's the mom or the dad who drinks and abuses their own child, it ultimately has a traumatic affect on the child in the long run.

I think the Mom killed the dad, and the ending shows the mom accidentally killed her baby as well, hence, the light at the door calling the baby asking him to come with his dad now.

i didn’t see the ending of this until Ranboo played it and…. good fucking _lord_ the ending shook me to the core. it’s so dark and just so _sad._ the fact that the kid had to go through all that, not understanding any of it. it was all up to his young, 2yr old mind. that’s why he saw his mother as a monster. it’s just so sad.

My theory is that the parents divorced and you stay with your mom. The mother is an alcoholic because you see her drinking and you see her as a monster when she’s drunk and are scared of her. The trench coat monster is the child protective services checking on you or trying to take you away. The Dad is probably the teddy bear because in the ending he sounds calming and trusting, he cares about you and is like a guardian to you, you see the teddy as your dad.

The most terrifing part is this ending make us happy when the father opens the door to help his son. But don't forget the mother falled in that condition cause he cheated her for a younger woman. In the end, the child is the only one being damaged by all this.

I feel so bad! She is a really good mother but the only problem is her getting drunk. She was even crying because she knew that the father would get to take the kid. She was even saying sorry to the kid when she hurt him 😭

This becomes a lot more emotional when you take certain things into consideration. For example, the original wiki states that the parents divorced because the dad ran away with an actress. While it's debatable on whether or not her alcoholism was part of it or whether it started before or after the divorce, the mother clearly is using this to cope with how her life has gone downhill. Notice how she acts so sweet towards the baby at the beginning of the game and after she apologizes? Or how he has so many good memories of her? Or how the rage in the spotlight scene mentions her not wanting her husband to take her son away? She does love the baby, but she's stressed because all of a sudden, she has to take care of him alone. And it's all because of one husband who may or may not have split up over a mere love triangle. The mother didn't ask to be replaced. Some shots might suggest that the husband was abusive to the baby as well. In the DLC, there are still frames of their shadows where it looks like the guy is about to beat her, The first monster in the main game might have a clue to this as well. Did you notice how there are actually three monsters in the game, yet only two try to hurt you? Hyda is the one you meet in the forest with the big hands and the white tattered dress-she represents the mother while she's drunk, and the dress might represent her broken marriage. Heap is the name given to the last monster who looks like a flying coat, is sensitive to sound, and is the one who grabs the teddy after the last memory is recieved-it represents the mother when she is hungover the next day, who only bothers the baby when he makes noise and gets irritated at loud sounds. But there is one more monster-the stranger, which is named that way likely because the baby never interacts with him often It doesn't seem to represent any part of the mother and has been speculated to be the dad. It's also the only monster in the game that doesn't hurt you-the only time it gets in your way is when it locks doors that you need to find the key to, and that's just him childproofing the house. And even if the dad was the teddy, there's a scrapped ending where the teddy eats you. The baby is the only thing keeping the mother afloat right now, but he is also a high source of stress. She doesn't want to give him to her ex and lose him, but she can't handle being able to care for him anymore, especially now that she's single and depressed over being replaced so easily. Even if she does lose him now, her abusive conduct will likely mean that she will never see him again. Even so, the baby is two years old. The trauma will follow him for the rest of his life, but nobody remembers anything clearly from when they were that young. Should she lose full custody and never see him again, it is very unlikely that he will ever remember her.

Honestly, I felt sad for the mom more than anything else.

This is sad, because its real, theres thousands if not millions abused and suffering in scliance from unstable parents, drugs, anger, accidents, etc, we need to be aware of child abuse, otherwise children grow up into pyscopaths, or worse, they dont get the chance to grow up...

So my theory is that the mother is the swamp monster and the dad is the trench coat and teddy bear because in the painting you see the lady drinking out of the well and that's how the baby sees his mother when she is drunk and for the trench coat monster it comes everytime it hears a bottle breaking maybe the dad hated the mom being a alcoholic and the teddy bear is the dad because they both have the same voice also everytime the baby vision gets blurry it's him being scared because his mother getting drunk that's why the baby hides and the mother says "you need to stop hiding from Mommy" so they baby hides everytime the mom gets drunk and comes to his room to hit him so I'll say this game is pretty sad
