is it possible that after 20 years khan would have made so many videos on various subjects that he would be the only person to know about multiple subjects??

Thanks for a video.But how do we determine how many years Maschine is going to work? Maybe it's a truck and company can use it for a few decades?

so is the only difference between amortization and depreciation whether the item is physical or intangible?
@zackrivers1

The extra years would need to be put down as a "gain". But you would have to revalue it. And there is much more to it but unfortunately I need to go. Moral of the story you still account for it.

how can I find your video about annuity ?
@PhilipK100
@PhilipK100 13 лет назад
sal, Lets assume I own this widget company, At the end of the 4th year the machine is worthless, as you showed. Is it possible for me , as the owner,to decide to keep the machine because it works. In other words, rather than me getting a new machine, can I not make a decision at the end of Year 4 to keep the machine for another year? In this case would it mean that the depreciation of the machine won't show up in the Income Statement, the Balance sheet or the Profit and loss account? Thanks

Philip Kennedy Useful life is just an accounting term meaning to describe the amount of expected use you should be able to get out of it -> this is usually governed by IRS laws. Even if you find the item useful for your business for 100 years or it lasts that long it won't be depreciated for that long.

There's a mistake at 3:23. By the end of 2007, the asset must be worth 37,500 since we are subtracting 12,500 from 50,000 not 47,500 :-)

this is not how you teach, I am here for structural understanding, leave the math out, its basic arithmetic, it is just filler in the video. I may be wrong, but this whole video should be no more than about 2 minutes.
