Epic series. Jesse Miller here, T.P.R. Alumni (best Thanksgiving ever ), and bought 2 Avid 192s from you during the pandemic. ( Jon Rook pick them up from your doorstep) Just finished all 7 episodes....... I can attest to the validity of your Stereo Guitar tracking technique.... Was a T.P.R. tip video, no longer available, but plenty of US saw it. Was awesome that you revisited "your" technique here. Keep them coming. When is the next livestream?
Haha! This is excellent, a walk down the modeling memory lane! Flextone, Pod, Vetta... oh the graveyard of tech! I built a new tube amp live rig and realized I just needed to be more efficient. Quad Cortex captures for the win!
This was epic !! Wish I seen it live great content really helpful. As a Guitar Gear Whore and player for 25 plus years i needed this a little bit. Its funny because i recall the same Line 6 coming out but the time frame is in line with me growing up.
You're very welcome :). Although I do usually have delays & verbs in Parallel, I treated this particular preset like a virtual pedal board. There were 2 additional parallel delays/verbs, but we had to removed them so it would run on less CPU capable machines (FM3, etc.). Another consideration that often comes into play when build patches... I'm mainly a producer/mixer, so I'm very comfortable (sometimes prefer) adding those time based effects after it's recorded... so the ones in my Fractal patch is more of an "effect" than ambience.
This was great Chris! Fell asleep watching live, woke up this morning and finished where I left off. 🙂 Subbed to your email list, looking forward to the blocks and JVM preset you talked about making. Thanks for the great teachings!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I'm curious on how you have your Axe FX connected for recording? You mentioned in the past that you used to have it routed through your console, but now with the ability to capture a DI, are you using the USB out of the Fractal or SPDIF? Much appreciated!
Thanks for the message. I use both analog (XLR) and digital (AES) into my Pro Tools interface. The only time I really use the USB interface part is if I'm doing a lot of tone matches.
Thank you for this amazing video. It was fun to hear someone who went through similar sonic amps as a kid. I can't find a link to sign up for your page. I'd love to get my hands on that JVM preset you were talking about. The preset is great too. I re-amped some of my tracks just to see what it would sound like and it turned out so much better than any of my attempts at presets. I'd be more than happy to pay for some presets if you ever go that route.
Hi Chris: Thank you for taking the time to create and share your presets. May I suggest something to you, please don't take it the wrong way but it might bring up your channel a notch. Use of four-letter words is not very professional. After I earned my Master's Degree my father and I were talking about something one day, and I was using four-letter words quite heavily. He looked at me and asked, "didn't you just get your Master's Degree", and I said yes. Then he said, I bet you learned a few more words that can get your point across without saying Fuck so frequently. Just sayin!
