I'd like to see whether or not brushing or non brushing resulted in better or worse accuracy, standard deviation.

Right! All these tests that provide "data"... none of it matters unless it makes a difference when shooting.

Great video!! I would love to see un bushed necks! Sized with sizing wax and put in a vibratory tumbler with rice ( Eric Cortina and Greg Dykstra interview) and then seat the bullets. I’m on my 8th firing without annealing and my K&M press reads 38-40 on the gauge

Gavin, that 5th unbrushed round at 08:21 looked like it didn't fully seat. I would check them for CBTO. Clearly the thing to check is group precision/accuracy versus the different treatments. How much variation on the seating charts before we see a flyer?

I think often what is overlooked is the effect the bullet itself and not just the brass

I brush all my cases. I use a. 270 bronze brush for 6.5 in my drill press. Run the case up and down 3 times. My bullet seating is smooth as butter. I get great SD and tight groups. I do not lube the necks.

I've seen a few reloading channels talking about this "force when seating" testing. How does this apply to real world group sizes? I never see anyone firing these to show actual group differences. To me... it seems the money spent on this extra equipment would be better spent on better marksmanship training. As in "learning how to properly shoot better". How many people own a setup like the Mantis or SCATT systems? I do, I also own Jim Owen's book on how to read the wind & the fundamentals of marksmanship. How many have read those?

Try backing out bushing 1/10” away from shoulder and see if the last part of the seating curve flattens out and is more consistent

That 5th round might have a slight doughnut forming, would need a closer inspection? For a future video maybe nylon brush vs bronze brush and maybe amp annealer vs a few hand annealed methods, the simplest one ive seen for example is to grab a case with bare fingers, then anneal using a torch turning it for a few seconds heating it evenly, quench vs non quenched, graphite or moly lubed vs non lubed, annealed vs nonannealed, chamfered vs non chamferred or degree/angle of chamfer, just a few ideas off the top, youve probably tested these already. Great video as always! Forgot to mention def would like to see the effect on target.

Cool Gavin. Data is good, but in the real world how does it compare. Precision & accuracy change? Weather, shooter, rifle temp during shooting are too many variables to say that 100% if I brushed the necks instead of wet cleaned my brass I would of shot tighter groups…I think a series is needed, try control as much as possible to not skew results. Will also be fun and somewhat conclusive

I always start my bullets slightly upright, especially boat tails. That way there's no skew as it starts into the case. You may see a lot of variance just letting them flop inside the die.

Sonic cleaned , or cleaned cases. Cases polished on inside And dry lube, graphite... redding, vs no lube or other lube. Is of interest Thanks Gavin.

Interesting what would be if we brushing after annealing? If we take away "stress" from brass it should be better for brushing and it give us better results.

I never heard of brushing the neck. Great video!! I just started learning to reload. Do you have to anneal and then brush the neck or can you just brush the neck without annealing the neck?

So you have a real cool press. What did you do before using the nylon brush? I wonder if you would use a stainless curl brush at drill motor speed would give more consistent press force? It seamed to work for me. All though I didn't have the press gage.

Doubt the sizing force matters specifically, moreso the consistency. Brushed necks gave you far more consistent, repeatable sizing curves.

I have seen that the pilot on my rcbs trimmer makes small scratches on the inside of the case neck it would be funny if you could compare with a trimmer without a pilot.

The amp press has a max force that it will apply which is set in software but maxs out like 190lbs I believe.
