Thanks for that. I wonder if the differences become more apparent into lower impedance loads where current demands are more significant? Will be interesting to see how the new CVR D-3302 compares.
entirely possible, obviously this wasn't a test pushing the limits. I only run a single 4 ohm driver off each channel normally so I'm really not stressing this thing out at all.
Are you using the same DSP for both amps and DSP disabled in the K10? What's the settings on the k10? Max input gain, max output level no eq other than what's in a master processor? I compared a K20 to 2x MC2 T2000. The old T2000 are supposed to be 4200 bridged at 4 and each channel of the k20 is supposed to be over 5000 at 4. The K20 was on max input gain max output level and the T2000 on full level. The MC2 amps were much more powerful at these levels. Seems you would have to drive the K20 extremely hard to push past the levels of the 2x MC2. I'm looking at some Admark AD60's but not seen much testing on them. Gallium nitride transistors inside.
Its a nice little test it would be nice to see these amps pushed near enough to clipping (With some real roots reggae music)@ 30/40hz and whether the current limiter settings in the PSoft would have made a difference if you look at the internal construction of both amps its the power supplies that set them apart, I also believe that these amps get hot at lower voltages. At one time the CVR 3002 was compared to a K20 I would say more a K8
is there a dealer in the usa where to buy CVR amplifier ?? i have a phonic xp 5000 and i want / need to buy the equivalent power on a CVR maybe the CVR D-2002 would be ok for my mids ,unable to spend five grands for a powersoft amp/// greeting from Peru, great video by the way ////
Is there a big difference in sound between the two models in actual use? Is powersoft still superior? I see a lot of European and American engineers using Chinese products these days.
This is a great video! What are your thoughts on the SKRAM vs Paraflex designs? I'm torn between the two designs and cant decide which to go with. I am definitely looking for response to the upper 20s Hz. What would you recommend?
Hey Lawrence. You need to choose what size box you can tolerate. The paraflex box will be louder and substantially bigger and heavier. If you can deal with the size and weight I’d say go with the paraflex. If you want a powerful and relatively compact 21 then the skram is a great choice. I also have some paraflex cabinets, I would say the sound is fairly comparable other than the skram is tuned lower than most of the paraflex designs, but as it goes you trade some output for that lower extension
Depends on which Paraflex design you're referring to (there's type A to type E), but generally they're tuned higher than the SKRAM. Topologically, they're fairly close (look like 6th order parallel-tuned devices, with the Paraflex combining the outputs in one mouth), so they best way to compare them might be to look at not only the usable passband, but also mouth area (larger = better) and out of band noise rejection (higher=better). Also, for pro audio use, perhaps size / packing capabilities (how much can you get into a van or a truck, for example) and driver heat dissipation capability (how well the driver's magnet is ventilated) also need to be taken into consideration. With that taken into consideration, a Type A Paraflex designed around the same driver used in the SKRAM and targetting the same Fb might give it some good competition. I'm looking at a design for a Type A based around an 18" B&C driver and out of band noise is predicted to be 10dB down from the passband - that's pretty good out of band noise rejection. And driver heat dissipation should be better than a design that has the driver's magnet structure buried inside a chamber. Brian Steele www.diysubwoofers.org
Does anyone consider the power source when doing these tests? I found the IEC computer power supply connector are the weakest link. I hardwired an 8 guage 50 amp power cable into my cv 5000 old school amplifier and it went from an IEC cord melting 2,900 max watts to now 6,600 watts.
Long story short, all the so called premium manufacturers are not worth the money at all. The "cheap" stuff has reached a point where the customer cant hear any difference anymore. now its only about status owning such a pricy piece of gear as k10/k20 and so on...
Listening on my phone.. on loud speaker.. seems the, powersoft sounds more ambient.. more warm in mid area.. ( please note i am partial, deff in one ear.. so i hear frequences lil different). I am looking into buying couple cvr amps to replace my old peavey and qsc. Need some, convincing
Hi I m over in Haiti I been carnival for 3 days i have crv d 3002 I was playing 2 doubles 18 inches he keep burning my speaker I want to know which db I have to put the amps
@@jeanronaldantoine7095 just don't let them clip red too much that's all i do here in Miami & the speakers are fine. I use my amps at 41 db setting on the amp & use the clip limiter on.
