When I lost my leg after the war in 'Nam I felt like my life was over. I fell into a depression where I would just drink and pop my pain pills everyday. It's how I lost my first wife, Edna. Well that, and She was a bit of psycho herself. I soon began to battle with my sexuality and would soon meet up with a fellow soldier I'd met in the jungles. I the point of this story is that through the guidance of the Holy Ghost I was able to get back on track. I got sober, found purpose and rewards in getting my education done, started my business and became well off for myself, got married to a real woman who never makes me question things and made a decent life. I wish you the best of luck in your decision!
Finish school. Build up your tolerance to your leg a little bit at a time. You dont use it you will lose it. try weight training to fight the atrophy. It is not easy. Keep going from your pal One Legged Nurse
Hi, I think I forgot to say in the video that if I did choose to work on the business that I’d just be taking a semester break. I’m working on things with my leg, it’s just hard when it’s so painful. I need to ask for some exercises I can do without my prosthetic on.
First, your education is the most important, gives you something to always fall back on. Second, my wife following her amputation and experiencing almost constant phantom pain, found a physician that provided acupuncture treatments and they were a miracle, almost total relief. Has anybody suggested this to you? If not, research the experience of others.
Choose a pace that you can maintain. Even if you have to slow down...don't quit. The coach told us that a college education may not make you any smarter, but it will open doors that might otherwise be shut. Keep studying at your own pace.
Hi One-Footed Phoenix, Charlie here. I am a recent joiner of your RU-vid channel and I’ve been enjoying your videos immensely. That is a very hard decision to make. While I enjoy your videos very much I feel that you need to choose what’s best for you mentally and physically. I would also recommend praying to God for guidance on such a difficult choice. In your heart of hearts, you will know the way… P.S. what is your business? I would love to support a young CRPS warrior/business entrepreneur such as yourself!
Hi Charlie! Welcome to the Phoenix Family! Yes, I’m praying about what to do moving forward. I forgot to mention in the video that I’d just be taking a semester off if I choose to focus more on the business. I’m looking to create some digital products along with my website and do some weekly newsletter emails. None of that is set up yet but we do have some product links in the description of most of my videos that are for our activity book and some journals. My Mom and I worked hard to publish those on Amazon.
Hang in there! I'm not familiar with phantom pain, if you will build a tolerance for your pain or it will go away.Try to learn to work with it as best as you can and it will all work out. I'm sure. My amputation was at birth and I'm doing well!!. Just continue to work with it, so you could move forward. You got this!
I do want to say that your videos are inspiring from someone with CRPS. But I think you should take your classes. You can always update videos when you feel up to it. You don't have fully give up videos (and i hope you don't). But it sounds like school is important to you. And I think you should focus on that. We'll be here cheering you on no matter what!
I think I forgot to mention that I’d just be taking a semester break if I so choose the path of focusing on the business for a bit. Thank you for the kind words! I’m still deciding what I’m gonna do, so we will see. Thanks for cheering me on!
Hi one footed phoenix how are you hope you are doing well I think education is important and you have done so well to get where you are it has been a while since I been to collage and havnt been having a good time with my stump amputee and my mental health has been bad and I haven't messaged any one . But I'm back and ok but I am enjoying doing t shirts . But hope everything goes well on course and life hope your new video is enjoyable like this on see you in the video 🐦🦜🕊️☀️
Hi Justeen! Thanks so so so much for watching and commenting so often! It always makes me smile to see your username in the comments! I’m so sad to hear you haven’t been doing well. Sometimes that happens as an amputee. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Asking for both physical and mental health help has been the best thing I have done for myself. Most of all, I would want you to know that this life is worth living! You are loved by me! If you ever feel like you’re a danger to yourself, please please please, be brave enough to seek help! If I can do that, you can too! I love you so much my fellow amputee!
I'm so sorry you're facing such a hard decision, my friend. I don't know what percentage of your business plan is based directly on RU-vid views, but my experience has been that with my size channel, I don't make enough from RU-vid every month to fill up the gas tank on my car, and that's pre-tax (keeping in mind that I have to pay both the employer and employee side of social security taxes, which is a significant percentage of earnings). While it's possible to make a livable income on social media, it can take years of hard work making next to nothing, and there's definitely an element of luck in the mix. And once you get to that point, a change in the algorithm can completely disrupt your business. In your position, I personally would keep going with school since a degree is a permanent asset that won't be taken away. RU-vid doesn't have to be all or nothing. Maybe instead of long-form content, you could just make occasional RU-vid shorts so that you don't lose connection with your RU-vid audience, and you could use the same content on Instagram. Shorts don't take nearly as much time and can be infrequent- just occasional fun updates to let people know how you're doing. Then when school is done, RU-vid will be waiting and you'll have even more skills to put towards your business. Not sure if you want to hear other people's opinions, but those are my thoughts. Obviously you're the one who knows your situation best, and prayer is a priceless tool. Good luck! We're all rooting for you, whatever you decide.
Actually I have some plans to… 1. Improve watch time, quality, and some back end stuff Then I have plans to 2. Create some digital products and a website Then 3. Plans to create a complete surprise So to some degree yes, it will be based on views, and to some degree it won’t be. I should have said in the video that I’d just be taking one semester off from higher education to get some things in order if I so choose that path.
