Opened my 1st bottle of indri tonight!! Hands down the best non-peated indian single malt i have tried till date. I got noted of oak, vanilla, caramel, honey, maple syrup, juicy fruits , some citrus, raisin, some sherry and a hint of spices like cinnamon. No alcohol burn whatsoever i just feel bad that we cant get the 46%abv variant. For me personally amrut fusion has its separate place as it id one of my favourite indian single malts and now indri has also joined the list!

amazing review --- both are excellent but 90% Indians love the light peated or non-peated whiskies - I just got the Indri Diwali special edition - Hopefully the hype to the new varient will be upto the mark :) cheers

Thanks for this battle royale. Absolutely agree with you. Indri is way ahead. In fact I think you have been too generous with fusion. Actually even in the regular Amrut stable I prefer Amalgam to Fusion.

Sir, I have to be respectful to the Fusion. I am less critical on RU-vid tha I am in my personal life! But yes Fusion in India needs to try really hard to live up to its expectations!

Fusion used to be awesome till the time the creator worked with the distillery. I have seen experienced it with a lot of brands that has lost their charms in the recent past. But I sincerely hope that Indri can keep its reputation for a long time in future.

Ashish I firmly believe that the 2004 fusion might be slightly different from what we have today. I believe the quality of 2004 must have been much better from today's fusion.

Yeah, absolutely agreed. Also I believe the expressions that get into these competitions are of far better quality. Its like us getting ready for a party versus is getting ready on a normal day. We do our best to look special. So I am fairly sure that what we get is sub-par!

I think the most important component is the yeast. Big brands, have specialists only taking care of their yeast. Those who do are able to keep their tastes relatively consistent over the years. Having said that I have also seen big brands like Chivas, dropping there quality. I feel it’s best to try a new brand and if possible the early batches. I am not an expert but I have some experience over the last 20 years.

Exactly my point. Totally agreed. So if we can hands on a 2004 batch of fusion then it would have been a fairer comparison. Still love the video
