Amrut Single malt | Whisky Review 

The only Amrut I have is the NAS Cask Strength bottled a few years ago. Perfectly righteous bourbon matured malt. Not out of the wheelhouse of the Tomatin CS for example. Perhaps a tad simpler but on par. It's over 60% ABV but approachable with time and water. I would imagine re-refilled casks in the warm climate might be able to go a bit longer. Compared to some American malts that are very grain forward, the Amrut distillate is more similar to scotch, being more barley sugar forward, lighter and fruitier.

I've been drinking Amrut for quite some years now, and they have had some different expressions over the years. Most of them I've tried were really nice! Sadly I can't remember the name of the first Amrut I tried on a public tasting, but I really fell for that one. The one you have on your cask right now and one called Raj Igala is probably the two most boring ones. I keep coming back to one called Fusion and the ones with cask strength, those are really good! They also have had some on port wine cask that were fantastic! I like both young and feisty and old and mature, it really depends on the mood. So don't disgard abroad distillerys before you try it, it can definetly be hidden gems where you least expect it.

I have tried Amrut Fusion, Paul John Bold and Paul John Edited. Really lovely whiskies. Really potent and at the same time full of flavours and characters.

Amrut is every bit as good as anything coming out of Scotland.

Amrut is very good as a single malt alternative to a scotch single malt, but I like my scotch. I appreciate this whisky though. Amrut did great with this one.

I had Amrut XI and it's 11 years old one I think. Doesn't taste too oakie. I like Amrut, they make great whiskey 🥃

I enjoy this one, when I can get a bottle here in Quebec Canada, it is well worth a try for anyone who enjoys a good sniff
