In case you didnt know, a little while back maybe 8 months ago they discovered theyre tyre physics was fighting with an older version in the game engine, so it resulted in tyres having two confused tyres states at any given time
They improved a lot. Reiza studios working with devs from project cars 2 now and soon they release GTR Revival. Based on that PC2 devs maked this engine and now they cooperate is amazing
i think the sim is in a pretty good spot, the cars feel good to drive, the ffb has gotten quite good especially on a direct drive wheel. my biggest complaints with the game is the BOP for classes such as GT4, it can be a little unbalanced. and it might be a bit on the forgiving side? im not sure, i have no real life driving experience, but it does seem more forgiving than assetto corsa and iracing.
I would say most people agree that's it's significantly better on a wheel than forza. I think so but I will say that if you get your wheel dialed in decently Forza can feel ok. AMS 2 feels great out of the box without a bunch of tweaking!
AMS 2 is by far the best feeling sim on the market atm imo. I've been sim racing for well over 20 years and have tried them all, but what Reiza have done to the madness engine is just awesome!!! The only downside is the multiplayer side of things. They are doing testing currently in the BETA version, but the test sessions I've joined I have yet to see any improvement in MP. Cars magnetise to each other, the LiveTrack 3.0 doesn't sync across all clients correctly, start lights don't sync and the list goes on. :(
Now you should also try custom ffb settings. I can highly recommend the V400 from Danielkart from the Reiza forum. Its on page 355, but be sure that you pick the right one. Daniel made 7 different for different Nm. I picked the one with 11-13 Nm. You don't even have to care about damping, friction or inertia. Its all in the file now. Imho this is the peak of FFB.
Reiza recommend using the "Default+" ffb profile for the time being while they are still updating the physics, especially if you're trying the BETA version of the game. Custom FFB profiles may brake the feel of the sim.
Yeah it is much better then any custom file. IMO YMMV@@TOCA2FREAK ABS and especially TC is a bit simple in this game, all cars without are mostly very good.
@@TOCA2FREAK but there is no harm in trying. If you don't like just switch back to the default. I am not a big fan of Betas so i always wait for official release. I'm also quite sure that Daniel will do some awesome adjustments for the new update when its finally there. For me the difference between the default ffb and the custom ones is like night and day.
I said 2 years ago that it alot of potential. It used to feel a bit dodgy the physics but I seem how much work reiza were putting into it. But now it's a total different sim. The f1 cars with alot of aero are amazing
If iRacing excels at multiplayer then Ams2 is the Daddy for off-line AI racing. Easily the most enjoyable AI to race against. Reiza have done a great job with this sim and for me it's ffb is 2nd only to rF2 but without some of the frustrations of that particular sim (which has also improved recently particularly the online racing). If you haven't tried Ams2 for awhile then you should definitely give it another go.
I also took a break from AMS2 and came back after two years. It's such a different game. BTW it's worth checking out the adrenaline pack for the fabulous dirt road content. 🎉
No wonder it looks great: it uses the same Madness Engine that was used for Project Cars 1 & 2... You can hate it or love it.. but the visuals and the weather in that sim.. pure bliss! There are some videos of some guys driving at night, in the rain at LeMans in the 50s cars... and it looks spectacular!
You probably have tested other cars already, but anyway: Caterhams has always been "that silly car" of AMS2, and I don't think even the 1.5 update managed to save it. As other people stated, have a look at the latest custom FFB, they are out of this world. Only thing this game lacks now, is proper incentive given to the gamer to do stuff beyond the sandbox aspect (which is incredible).
It has no career mode. It is promised somewhere down the line though. Supposedly better. Though I personally did like the PC2 career. However you can create championships how you like. Whether it’s multi class, road cars on dirt tracks or vice versa and there is an app if I remember correctly. Racinglife or racelife to have a sort of career. Hope it helps ya, salute
"it felt like on the limit all the time" and that's what I used so love about AMS2, which is now almost completely gone. It's just way too easy to drive nowadays and IMO they went way too far. I've warned them months ago that Forza is going sim and was never easy to drive. I think I got that right because the essential part of what I liked about AMS2 is back thanks to Forza Motorsport. AMS2 was a bit too temp-sensible with the tyres, but now it feels like they completely deleted the short-term tyre-temps and tyre-wear is almost non-existing no matter what the HUD is showing. AMS2 feels simcade to me while Forza is IMO the best sim.
Im gonna have to disagree with you here. Now the cars feel like they're on the limit when you actually are on the limit. Having the car feeling like you're on the limit when you are not is terrible feedback and very much unrealistic.
