I dont think anyone ever thought Yoshi could look this fast. Gotta have respect for Hbox for being able to stay so calm within a whirlwind of yoshi noises.
seeing amsa and hungry box fight is like those Goku VS Vegeta fights, the sayian prince ( One of the five gods) versus the low level humbled sayian (yoshi, the low tier)
I think this MU is close to even. Jigglypuff has the airspeed to space and the moves multi hit and not to break double jump armor. However, Yoshi lives forever, kills early, can double jump armor rest, has Ko confirms( a lot of chars. Lack against puff), and Yoshi has the airspeed and decent movement to keep up.
@@NeonDart it's not just upsets but really questionable seeding. mang0 and Leffen were seeded over active placing threads like aMSa, Wizzrobe and Hbox. The consequence of that is mang0 having the freest Top 3 way with every other top dog who doesn't play Fox being on one bracket side. Like aMSa and Hbox for Top 24 after Hbox got 2nd at his last major or Wizzy Moky after Wizzy got 2nd at Riptide? The seeding has no clear direction or criteria and it's always only like this at Big House.
@@rannynihilius8481 I agree seeding is a bit off, but it's not as bad as you are making it out. Just because Leffen and Mang0 are attending less doesn't mean it's crazy or wrong to seed them higher. Leffen did win the last major he attended. Then his dq just adds to how the bracket went. Like those matches don't seem that crazy to me, it's gotta be someone. Mang0 has made it to grands at a major more times this year than those 4. I can't think of another way to make the bracket that would really make it much better. If it's only always like this at the big house then I guess that's consistency, there isn't like a set rule to how each tournament has to choose to seed things. I just don't think it's that crazy that seeding came out this way, but I see how it is obviously a great bracket for Mang0
@@NeonDart mang0 only made it to grands with really favorable brackets like these but every time when the favorable MUs stopped he was out of it. When he wasn't making easy Top 3s this year he was a 9th to 5th gatekeeper this year sadly. For me the reason the seeding is not really that great is recency. Get that Big House seeding is different but things like Leffen not entering anything for half a year and being seeded over Plup and Wizzy who had simular performances a lot more recently is not right. Anyways Cody or Plup are about to make history and i hope you enjoy the set! :)
Why the hell are these comment sections so bitter lately? I mean I wanted aMSa to win and I hope he continues to make a run but it sounds like half the people are more intent on putting the loser down.
I'm shocked they didn't mention the 2 casual callouts by amasa spot dodging 2 upsmashes from hbox in 2 exchanges. The hardest reads but it's just so normal they don't even think about it.
Hbox loses to literally a top 5 player and hes washed? Dude not aloud to lose anymore. Hes only washed if he constantly loses to non top players. Hbox doesnt even take the game seriously anymore and hes always top 5 in tourneys
Hbox washed nonsense comments. The way amsa player here is probbaly one of the highest raw skill melee peaks in history, barely flubbing at the insane hings he does too. Bunch of blind people watching this.
@@jrcolonial98 MU's. All the other top players have developed and perfected anti puff tech (think Zain and his ability to reliably combo puff). Cody is so much better than any fox Hbox has ever faced. Watch the amsa set. Notice how Hbox keeps throwing out pounds even though they don't work? That's because they USED to work but amsa has learnt how to play around it. Hbox on the other hand hasn't learnt how to play around amsa's platform movement. He certainly COULD he has the experience and skill, but he just doesn't have the knowledge. Hbox has historically been slow to adapt anyways (without crunch at least) so this isn't anything new. Add to the fact that Melee today is progressing faster than ever and the fact that he's more focused on helping the scene grow it's understandable why he's not caught up.
To be fair, Yoshi is a HARD counter to the puff playstyle with his armor on that double jump, taking away the chain back air off puff is really tough, but I do agree that Hbox isn't fully there. What worries me is has Puff been learned and countered in this new meta? Or is Hbox just not quite where he used to be? Puff can definitely still do good and succeed but man, Melee has evolved so much in so little time, Puff may just be done for the future, the techs have been learned and the counters are common knowledge for any of these professional players. I would love to see Hbox on top again but whether its Hbox not keeping up with Melee or just Puff falling hard out of meta, Puff just doesn't seem to have that same success factor that she used to.
People on the comment saying Hbox is washed , when Hbox 2023 go back to 2017-2019 , he would still beat everyone and be #1. The current meta is just soo incredibly good and the level of skill is so high that Amsa can go to 2017-2019 and dominate hard. Big thanks to Slippi , Uncle Punch , and other things that help push the meta to greater heights.
It's not like Hbox hasn't played Amsa plenty of times over the years, so I don't know why you're trying to John for character experience. Amsa has clearly gotten better, lots of players have, meanwhile he died last stock trying to get an easy KO with up-tilt into Rest because he didn't think he would win otherwise.
aMSa won Big House last year, he's been on the radar for half a decade. There's no denying HBox has fallen quite a bit since the late 2010s. Given how strong he was during that time, it would be hard to not have fallen off though.
I know aMSa didn’t just hit the scene yesterday guys. But in the grand scheme of Melees meta, characters like DK and Yoshi at a high level are relatively new for such an old game.
His focus is divided. He is a part owner of Team Liquid, running his own weekly events, streaming, playing tons of Ultimate to pay the bills. However HBox always makes top 8 which shows how dang good he is at the game.
He's not even washed in terms of skill and ability, he's just so behind the current meta. If he grinded melee he would still be a contender for number 1.
