I have been coming to Amsterdam now for 35 years . Its really easy to get the train from the Airport to Downtown Amsterdam Via train . Just go downstairs at the airport and buy your ticket to catch the train . Trains run every 15 minutes . Then get out at the Downtown Station and either catch a Taxi or a Electric Tram to your hotel . Happy biking you all

Hello, I love your videos!!!! One question, I have to travel from Schipol airport to the hostel at Amstelstation. I searched on google and it told me that at the airport I should take the sprinter train to Amsterdam Zuid station and from there the metro line 51 to Amstelstation. But what I need to know is if I do this with the same ticket? How do I change from the sprinter to the metro? Thank you
@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Год назад
Thank you! Great that you are coming to Amsterdam. To answer your question: you can change to the metro but you don't have to. Amstel Station is an "NS" (Dutch Railways) station and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is also an NS station, so they are conected by rail. At Schiphol Airport you buy a trainticket to Amstel Station. Now you have 2 options. Option 1 is: You go from Airport Schiphol to Amsterdam Central Station. From there you change trains and take the train that stops at Amstel Station (a lot of trains stop at Amstel Station from Amsterdam Central Station). Option 2 is: at Schiphol airport you take the train to Station Duivendrecht (in the south of Amsterdam). At Duivendrecht you change to a train that stops at Amstel Station (the next station). With the 2 optopns you don't have to change to the metro and you don't have to check out until you get to Amstel station. You can also install the (free) NS app. It is a yellow icon with a blue wavelike logo. Search for "NS app". You can change the app language in Englisch. Hope this answers your question. Enjoy your stay!

@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Год назад
So you have your E-ticket(s) printed on paper. Since you have payed for that certain time and for that certain distance, well done! There is only one problem... Schphol Airport train station does not have (optical) scanners to have your QR-code on your paper ticket scanned. Since your ticket is valid on that certain friday we advice you to keep your ticket stand by and just board the train downstairs. When they come to check your ticket, make shure they can scan the QR-code(s). They could ask for your ID-card or pasport but usualy (almost always) they don't. The NS (train) personel are very kind and wil help you when they can so don't worry. Remember to scan the QR-code at Amsterdam Central Station (or other station) at the exit gates. Put the QR-code over the circular scanner and the gates wil open. Amsterdam is now at your feet. Great to have you and enjoy your stay!

Hi visiting Amsterdam for the first time and wondering after the plane ride is it immigration first since I'm coming from USA before baggage then exit to whichever platform you want to go central? Thanks
@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Месяц назад
Yes that's right. Immigration comes first, then come the suitcases. For the trains, you cannot just take any platform to go to Amsterdam Central Station. Several trains go to Amsterdam Central Station in an hour. It is important to check the screens in the main hall from which platform the next train departs to Amsterdam Central Station. To avoid any problems with transferring to a connecting train, we recommend taking a direct connection. We also think it would be wise to buy a 2nd class ticket as the journey does not take long and the difference between 1st and 2nd class is not very big. Enjoy your trip!

I have a 6 hour layway on airport. I been there 20 years back. going again but you think 6 hours is good enough to quickly check out centraal station and area. Any tips you have for this ?
@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog 11 месяцев назад
If you look at 6 hours you would think that would be enough to visit the center for a short time. But we strongly advise against trying to visit the center in 6 hours. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has had a major problem with the security check before customs since last year. We made a quick calculation and came to the conclusion that if everything really goes according to plan, you can only be in the center for a maximum of 30 to 45 minutes. But then everything really has to work out. If you still want to take this risk, it is highly recommended to reserve a time slot (when you return) for security in the "Schiphol App", otherwise you could just miss your connection.

Hi, thanks so much for this useful video! I want to go from Schiphol to Amsterdam RAI. I've looked through Google Maps, NS website etc. but I can't figure out which train to take to get to RAI (and not Central Station). I can see all the final destinations, but can't figure out which one I should opt for. Could you be able to tell me which one would take me to RAI? Thank you so much. Hope I'm not a bother!
@weeardguy
@weeardguy Месяц назад
It's probably a bit late to comment on this, but first of all the NS-website should really show the train you need to take: it will always list the terminus of the train you need and the station you will need to exit to either change or arrive at your destination. Mind you, I'm talking about the real website on my phone here, I never use the app on my phone, it could be the app is different, I just don't know. RAI is a station within the Amsterdam area and for a ticket at the machine you will need to start with 'AM' first (as the full station name is Amsterdam RAI). If you are confused at the station itself (especially as the congested signs you seet at 5:36 in this video do not list all stations the train will call at, that's only visible on the large screen to be found right above the ticket windows at Schiphol Airport). If you still can't figure it out, look for the posted yellow timetables right behind the ticket-machines at Arrivals/Departures 1/2. You will need to know a main direction first in order to look at the right timetable, but once you got it, you'll be good to go. It not only gives you a textual explanation of all the stations a specific train will call at at that particular time and particular day, but it will also give you a visual indication of the route the train will take at the top of the timetable. The stations marked with 'IC' or 'ICD' indicate if a station has an intercity status or Intercity Direct status or not and thus if a train listed as 'Intercity' should call there. From memory I'd say that every Sprinter to Utrecht and every Intercity to Lelystad Centrum will call at Amsterdam RAI.
@antarasarkar12
@antarasarkar12 Месяц назад
@@weeardguy Hey, thanks for this! I've already done the trip but I hope this will be useful to someone else. You are right - RAI was not listed. So I had to type Amsterdam Rai (and not just RAI) to find it on the ticket machine at the airport. After that we looked at the screens for directions, but unfortunately that too wasn't very clear. So we asked around a bit, and was able to figure out our platform. Once again, thanks for the detailed reply. I'm sure it will be useful to fellow travellers!

If you buy a train ticket via the app or online (Eticket) you have to take one with a date on it. You get a QR code on the ticket. When you are on Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (as far as I know) there is no terminal to scan the QR code. You can just hop on the train to your destination on that specific date. When they come to check your ticket make shure they can scan the QR code on your phone or printout. When you want to leave the station, you can scan the QR code at the exit gate. Good luck and have fun!

What will be a mode of transport in the middle of the night to the airport from the hotel for a 7am flight ?
@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Год назад
Unfortunately at night you (almost) can't rely on trains leaving from Amsterdam Central Station to Schiphol Airport. Leaves you with two options depending on your budget. We used to go with the Niteliner N97 bus that starts its journey from Leidseplein (Leiden Square) to Schiphol Airport. It makes several stops along the way so you don't have to start at Leidseplein. Just wait for the bus at one of the stops along the route. The bus makes the route in 29 to 37 minutes to Schiphol Airport. A ticket will set you back around 5 euro's. The bus can be crowded with people and luggage so if you can bare that in the middle of the night this is an option for you. The second option is way better but more expensive. Let your hotel call a taxi. Yes it will cost you around 50 to 60 Euros but we think it's worth every Euro.

The options to go to the Museum Park directly are: The least best option is to go from Airport Schiphol to Central Station by train and transfer to tram 2 or tram 12 and exit at the "Museumplein" stop. A better option but also with a bit of fuzz is to take the "NS Innercity" train from Airport Schiphol to "Station Amsterdam Zuid" and transfer to the "GVB Tram 5" (to Jordaan) and exit at "Halte Concertgebouw" (this is next to the Museumsquare). The hands down best option is to take bus "Connexxion R-NET 397" from Airport Schiphol to "Elandsgracht". It wil take you directly to the Museumsquare in 25 minutes and just exit at the "Museumplein" stop. Good luck!

Hello. How different between day return ticket and I want to go to Amsterdam ticket?
@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Год назад
It all depends on what you want. But if you think about it... A single trainticket from Schiphol (airport) to Amsterdam Central Station is around 5,50 to 6,- Euro. So you have to do that twice in a day, that's around 12 Euro's. The Amsterdam Travel Ticket is 17 Euro's and gives tou total freedom for one day in public transport including a train return from and to Schiphol Airport. Even the Airport Express Bus is included. We would advice the Amsterdam Travel Ticket. You get a free map with this ticket about public transport and the center. The link is here > www.holland.com/be_nl/toerisme/artikel/download-map-of-amsterdam-region-travel-ticket.htm . Buy your Amsterdam Travel Ticket online via this link > www.discoverholland.com/Amsterdam-Travel-Ticket . Or buy your ticket at Schiphol Airport in the central hall (Schiphol Plaza) at NS Services en Tickets, AKO (bookstore) and Connexxion (bus company). Hope this helps. PS. prices may rise in the coming weeks so some tickets could become more expensive.

@amsterdamclogvlog
@amsterdamclogvlog Год назад
If you want to go from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport directly to The Zaanse Schans by train (best option) you have to change trains at 'Amsterdam Sloterdijk' (name of the station). At Amsterdam Sloterdijk you wil exit the train (from Schiphol Airport) at the top level and go down to the lowest platforms. That patform probably is platform number 3. That train wil take you to 'Zaandijk Zaanse Schans' (name of the station). During the day this trip in total takes around 28 minutes, including changing trains to 'Zaandijk Zaanse Schans'. It takes around a 15 minute walk to The Zaanse Schans from station 'Zaandijk Zaanse Schans'. The route is clearly marked so you don't get lost. When you are finished you go back to 'Zaandam Zaanse Schans' station and take a direct train to 'Amsterdam Centraal Station' (name of the station). This last trip takes around 19 minutes. We advice you buy a 2nd class ticket all the way. Buying your tickets on the spot is easy and only costs €1,- more than an E-ticket. if you do want to buy a ticket in advance, you can do that via this link > www.ns.nl/producten/en/losse-kaartjes-toeslagen. Please note that Amsterdam Airport Schiphol trainstation does not have the scanners to read the QR-code from the E-ticket. A recent development is to travel via the chip on your debit card. Unfortunately tis is so new that we don't know if this works for you as a visitor. Info about check-in via debit card via this link > www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/check-in-check-out/debit-card. Please remember we also did a informative video about the Zaanse Schans and how to get there > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SsZFReIt-uE.html. Enjoy your trip!

If you need it, follow the yellow line to the official taxis, cross the road there (at the zebra), which gets you to the first busstops that (almost all) go north/northwest/north-east. Cross the road again (at the zebra) to get to the other platforms for buses, these buses almost all take you down south/southeast/southwest. The other side of this busplatform is for BlaBlacar and such. @amsterdamclogvlog 10 месяцев назад
Yes, you can certainly get Dutch fries/patat at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, but it's important whether or not you go through security and can travel to the center of Amsterdam, for example. You have the best chance of getting fries at these 2 restaurants behind security (when transferring, you don't have to go through security and back again). Dammer's Tap behind security at the B-pier -OR- Dutch Kitchen behind security at Holland Boulevard. Another useful tip. All restaurants at Airport Schiphol are managed by HMS-Host. This means that if you walk into any restaurant at the airport and ask where you can get real Dutch fries, they will refer you to a restaurant or eatery at the airport. All restaurants and eateries are therefore connected to each other. If you go to the center of Amsterdam, the best way to get your fries is at our personal favorite Manneke Pis (not sponsored). You will find this on the Damrak (street) exactly between Central Station and Dam Square. You can recognize them by the long line outside and the purple cone bags that contain the fries. We recommend taking the medium because the large is very large. I personally prefer normal mayonnaise because Zaanse mayonnaise tastes a bit more sour. Eet smakelijk!
