After using mine for some time now I have to say it cleans ups very nice when turning the volume knob down. I see myself not using any pedals at all when playing blues or rock, I just crack the chunch channel gain then strat volume at 4 or 5 for cleans that are more dynamic and a hair ticker than the clean channel, that is a very nice clean at the edge of breakup, then crank the volume for crunch rythm or soloing, or engage the lead channel too. Of course the lead channel can be used for metal and toggle betwen the clean channel for those heavy to clean back to heavy songs if you want.

Buen demo, deja bien claro el rango de uso de la ganancia. El canal crunch me ha hecho dejar mis pedales overdrive guardados, tal vez solo necesite usar un pedal de sonido bluesero pero fuera de eso este crunch me a gustado mucho.

En efecto, es un crunch con muchas posibilidades. Es muy importante notar que su resultado varia mucho en función de la pastilla empleada, por lo que es interesante compararlo con muchas guitarras para optimizar su sonido. Es una herramienta todo terreno.

Is there any chance you can record another demonstration going "direct" with this pedal? I own a tech 21 RK5 going direct and it just needs a little more oomph. Thanks!

Derek Thrasher Hello Derek, It will be a pleasure. I would like to know which style you would like to hear. It would also great to know If you want to hear it as pure as possible or processed (Eq, comp, rvb) in order to get the best out of it. Are you going to use it live or in studio? Thanks for writing!

Thanks for responding! :) Yes, what kind of clean sounds can you get out of it? Strumming and riff play. You can add some reverb and chorus if you'd like. I will be using this LIVE. I'm already doing the Tech 21 RK5 direct to the board, but I think it needs to be followed with a Tube Preamp like this or the SS-11. I use a Gibson SG with Two Humbucker configuration.

Of course, I will do my best to capture the sound you explained. Direct to soundcard sound is never as good as through P.A. In my opinion. The ambience of the venue makes it thicker and more authentic. I will have fun doing the video. Thanks for your feedback!

Brutal Gain Agree, I have played thru mixer and power amp with mi friends and I like it better, more realistic. But who knows, maybe a dedicated cab simulator can me it sound better for direct recording. By the way, any chance you can demo the new 2015 SS-11A? I find the lead channel of the SS-20 great for metal but there is a small gap en between the ss-20 crunch and lead that I wonder how good the ss-11a may fill better.

You have to ask the soundguy for a DI Box. Then plug the ss-20's cab sim output to the DI Box input and there you go!

I assume you mean Blackstar HT preamp pedals...Hard to say, I owned several HT heads and amps but not the pedals. In any case, the sound I got from the amps recorded direct was very good (you can get the direct signal from the send jack while in Standby, and apply your own Impulse Responses to emulate the cab). If you mean playing live, I don't know how Blackstar pedals sound through another amp's return.
