Since I was 5 years old I’ve always wanted to ride a train and you get to ride with me! Comment below if you LOVE trains and if have rode Amtrak before!
Right?! this dude is wholesome as hell. I took the train from Chicago to New Orleans after my grandmother insisted because that is how she travelled from Chicago to her grandparents farm wayyyy down in Mississippi. It was one of the best travel experiences that I have had. Also was so cool to experience what my grandmother had experienced 60 plus years later.
I know this was posted 4 years ago and you may not see it but your attitude, personality, and excitement for a train is so wholesome and amazing! Makes me smile from ear to ear just by seeing how happy you are!
"The reason why you're watching this video is because [train-related things]" I'm actually here because the algorithm gods blessed me yet again, and I ain't mad 😀
Hey Mr. Edmond. Awesome video. My name is Alan Schechter I am an Amtrak Employee out of Seattle Washington. You did a great job highlighting the train. The Amtrak Crescent is a beautiful run from New Orleans Louisiana to New York City and Pennsylvania Station. I currently work Amtrak Empire Builder between Seattle Washington and Chicago Illinois. I am a Lead Service Attendant and look forward to seeing you someday on one of our Amtrak Trains!!!!!!
DownieLive ohhh bro! I’m so ready to travel with ya in a few days. It’s going to be an epic experience. Imma bring all the snacks. 😂 See you in Chicago!
@@WillEdmond and DownieLIve you are so positive and enjoyable to watch..have never been on a train and thinking of this one from Atlanta to New Orleans... bit of a stay at homer so a bit uneasy after watching other reviews until I got to yours...taking a drive from New England to Atlanta and want to experience a train ride from there to New Orleans for a few days.. what do you think?
I don’t understand why you’re not at a 1 mil subscribers. Top quality content. Been a subbie since 5k. I love trains! kinda a vibe. You can get a lot of work done. And you can walk and stretch your legs.
My homies! We are going to get there eventually. I appreciate you showing so much support and LOVE. I love trains and this was a dream come true. And yes, you can get a lot of work done. I did!
You are so positive and optimistic, I’m planning my three week trip across your wonderful country next year. No better way to actually see a country than travel through it. Best wishes from the U.K. 🇬🇧
Hey Jessica! You are going to love it. You could get through a lot of books, write your goals and dreams, some trains have WiFi too. I appreciate you for supporting and watching!
We took the Crescent from Atlanta to New Orleans back in 2016. It was relaxing, comfortable, and the 12+ hour ride didn't seem half as long. I remember thinking to myself, "THIS is the ONLY way to travel!" Go Amtrak!
I'm glad someone else gets so excited when they get ready to ride the train. He's like a little kid, and so am I. I turn 50 in February, and I still smile ear-to-ear.
I always dreamed of it and finally got to do it. I literally just got off the Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle 1 hour ago. That video will be our Sunday. Thanks for watching and always supporting.
@@WillEdmond the Empire Builder is what I always rode but from St. Paul to Pennsylvania! With 8 hours to spend in Chicago! It was great! I love seeing people fulfill a dream! I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Wow.... 4 years later and I'm just now seeing your vid??? You bring along a lot of enthusiasm. Great vid. Fun to watch. I subscribed to your channel so I won't go another 4 years again.
Will, your video is really well thought-out and well edited. Thanks for posting it. I am curious, though, wondering why so many people really hate riding Amtrak and write really bad reviews of it, especially on TripAdvisor. I think they approach it with the wrong attitude. It's not the Uptown Hilton, or first class flying. It's a train, with bumps and stops and slow pace and sometimes forcing you to do without things like hot water or working toilets! If you can get yourself into the pace and put up with the inconveniences, it sounds like the way to go. I rode cross country in the days far before Amtrak came along, and still have fond memories, like a full turkey dinner in August in a dining car with white linen tablecloths! Thanks again and keep havin' fun. I have subscribed.
I agree. Most people approach it with a bad attitude. We live in a society where people want everything fast and quick. Amtrak isn't that. You are suppose to relax and enjoy the scenery and the small hiccups that sometimes comes with train travel. If I'm delayed, it dIdn't matter to me on a train because I've planned time for a delay just in case. You had an awesome experience back in the day as well. Glad you are following the journey. Thanks again.
Growing up I used to ride Amtrak from NYC to Savannah all the time. Which as a kid was super fun but as an adult, I only have the patience to ride to DC lol. I think it’s great for weekend trips to nearby states.
I have been on this train many times i would absolutely recommend the sleeper car because you have a private room basically and you can make the bed if you don’t want to be sitting in the chair the whole time
The gentleman who explained the situation with Superliner equipment being unable to go through the Hudson River tunnels is correct. They are too big. However, NJ Transit's Bombardier-made bi-level cars were designed to be able to fit into the tunnels, so while Amtrak can't run Superliners into NY Penn Station, NJ Transit does run bi-level trains into PSNY. Another problem for the Superliners is that they only have doors capable of serving low platforms. Penn Station only has high platforms.
I think they will be resolving this issue in the upcoming revamp of Penn and the accesses thereto. But I want to remember that it something like a ten year phased project.
I did the ride from Atlanta to New Orleans. It was pretty good! The wifi is better than they say. I was able to stream movies. I could have brought my laptop to do homework, but I wanted a break.
Wish I had known you were in B’ham! We used to catch Amtrak’s $20 round trip specials from Tuscaloosa to New Orleans all the time. I’ve even taken the Crescent to my former home, NYC. Gonna take the Coast Starlight from LA TO Seattle one of these days!
Will, We enjoyed your excitement taking your first train. Since retirement we have had time to take the Empire Builder to Seattle, Edmonds a suburb. A great trip. The wife saw elk on the mountain side going through Glacier National Park. The scenery was beyond belief, except for the plain states. Flat but still beautiful. Oh BTW wave when you go through Fargo to our friends there. We have recently taken the City of New Orleans to New Orleans. Stayed for 2 days then on the Sunset Limited to San Antonio stayed for 2 days and finished up on the Texas Eagle to Chicago. What a trip!!! We hope you get time to see the Aquarium when your in New Orleans. And if you are a WW2 buff make sure you catch the action at WW2 museum. Thanks for sharing.
Tom G Thanks for watching T and WOW you’ve had a amazing journey as well. Just finished the Empire Route 48 hours ago. Hope you stay around and watch that one as well.
Just watched this a second time. What a great video. One of the best Amtrak videos because of Wills great presentation style enthusiasm and friendly fun personality
Just discussing with my mom that I wanted to do a family trip but she's terribly afraid of flying I think I see my next solution thank you so much for posting this thank you so much for having a dream.
I know this video is a few years old, but I'm so glad I found it. I've often wanted to travel by train cross country, and I do currently live in New Orleans and thought that the ride to Savanah would be a great way to ease into train travel. You're so full of joy. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Will. I was glad to see your recent video of the Crescent. I recently learned that dining service had been discontinued on the Crescent and other East coast routes in September, 2019. I was glad to see you still had access to the Cafe car. We're planning a trip this fall on the Crescent from Gainesville, GA to New Orleans and from there to San Antonio on the Sunset. I'm still trying to decide if having the Roomette as opposed to a Coach seat is worth it and I think it is since there will be two of us. You did a great job on this project and it helped me a lot.
Who is the one person who thumbed down this video? WIll, this is wonderful content. I foresee this channel taking f2f. You have positive energy and charisma. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I've recently started taking train excursions. I've traveled on the "Lake Shore Limited", "Southwest Chief", "Coast Starlight" and the "Silver Meteor". All have been great. I will be taking the "Empire Builder" in April '23.
11:49 actually on trains that travel through the whole night, they do dim the lights! (They probably didn't turn the lights down on your ride because you were arriving at the last stop soon.) Love the video and your enthusiasm! Can't wait to take this ride for myself
Hello Will!! Your so cute with your excitement!!!! I know the feeling! First time I got on an Amtrak train I was sooooo excited!! And when we started rolling I could not believe how smooth and quite it was...., then as we continued the slight motion of the train was exciting!!! I had lunch n the dining car and it was really good!! Then the observation car was exciting too!! Then last..... the wonderful people you meet and talk to!! Great video and I did subscribe!😊👍🏻 hope to see you soon!!! Bye for now! Kathy Washington State
New subscriber here! I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm! I've been an Amtrak fanatic for over 30 years. I refuse to fly. I STILL feel the same way about train rides. 😊😊💞💞
Dude you made me smile the whole vid! I’m moving to Tennessee n taking my daughter and I e driven from Washington Alabama n Florida but I can’t cause of injuries etc, so it’s either plane or train…. Yep ya should be a Amtrak salesman! I’m SOLD! Yeah and lil ladybug is 5 now, so I’m pretty sure she’s gunna smile as much as you👊🙌💯
I've travelling on Amtrak train even before Amtrak merged private Railroad Company for over 52 years. I hopped once or twice a year acrossing in any part of USA as I love it and no matter if the train is delays or on time because trains travel is a blast with a wonderful socially different people from all over the world and a beauty by looking a view passing to different areas too.
Wow! Kenneth you’ve witnessed all the changes and you’re right it’s one of the best ways to travel. I enjoyed looking at the landscape and seeing the small towns.
Came across your channel after seeing you on DownieLive across America. Your videos are great and you’re full of life! Love the energy and enthusiasm you have. Looking forward to watching more of your videos
Got a 72 hour journey from Portland to voluminous Ohio in august. I’m way to excited to ride the empire builder from Portland to Chicago before getting in the capital limited to Toledo then a greyhound to Columbus. Itl be a long but very enjoyable ride I’d imagine.
Sorry if you already done it -- maybe even done a video about it -- but New Orleans to LA (the Sunset Limited) !!! Do it! We live in Houston, so we started there -- and there are possibilities, I think, from Chicago to San Antonio where some of the cars on that train join up with the train coming from New Orleans to continue on to LA. The station in SA is near the Alamodome and the station in LA is awesome (we've all seen it it TV shows and /or Movies) -- and it's in a cool part of LA from which to start a journey around ALL there is to see and experience there ! AND, I very much enjoy your videos -- I've only just "found" you (watching videos about Ashevillle, NC). You're energy is very positive -- love it!
This a route that I’ve always to do. Washington DC to New Orleans. Thanks for posting. It’s great to see Amtraks Crescent and the single level cars on the East Coast
Will Edmond, I have enjoyed all of the videos you have posted re your Amtrak travels. I hope you will do one on of the Coast Starlight (Los Angeles to Seattle - or Seattle to Los Angeles). It has some of the most spectacular ocean views between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo and some amazing mountain view in the northern part of the trip (going through the Cascades, etc). Bedroom is definitely the way to go (if you can afford it). This train also has a business class car. I could go on and on about the pleasures, joys, and wonderful reasons to ride Amtrak but your enthusiasm covers them very well also!!! LOVE your energy. Thanks again for sharing your experiences with us!
@@WillEdmond, let me know when you'll be doing the Coast Starlight route or the Pacific Surfliner route to San Diego. If I can be on the same train, I'll do it. If you're not familiar with the Pacific Surfliner, it's a nice train also. Coach and business class are the only options. Are you familiar with the Los Angeles Union Station? Another one of the old beautiful classic stations.
Going on my first trip to the US in 20 years this December and I'm taking an Amtrak train with my wife to go visit my brother. I've been watching loads of Amtrak videos to know what to expect and Will, your enthusiasm is amazing. You're making me even more excited than I already was!
Will Edmond no problem! I will for sure! LOL if u have a second come by my channel I make vlogs as well! I would love to one day shoot a video with you 😁😁👍
I love your videos most definitely. I dislike traveling on a a plane. This video I will try to travel on Amtrak and give it a shot. Peace and love from East Harlem NYC...
Train rider for decades here. Your video is refreshingly good. Thanks. I advise you to take the Coast Starlight from Seattle to Los Angeles and back. Fantastic trip. The Zephyr is great for scenery as well.
Will, loved your video! We have traveled from New Orleans to Chicago. And from San Antonio to Chicago. We live in the Chicago area so we are blessed with many options for train travel. Our next trip.....Seattle to Chicago.😊 Thanks for all your enthusiasm! Hopefully more people will explore the joy of train travel. ✅
I took the San Francisco Zephyr in 1978. DC to Chicago, change in Chicago. 5 nights 4 days. All in coach. I packed 12 books, a blanket and a small pillow with roadrunner on it. Brilliant journey. I was young, so coach was okay. I even washed my hair daily ( oh VANITY!) In the sink, because they had foot pedal control of the sink taps! The SanFrancisco Zephyr route went to places like Ottumwa, IA, but crossed the Great Salt Lake and Cheyenne WY, Sparks instead of Reno, NV. The route ended on Oakland.
Such a great experience traveling the country - trains. Back in high school I made the trip from San Bernardino to St Louis, Mo. Since then I've taken day trips to San Diego. Need to do it again as its been years ago.
