A brief video capturing the sounds of the HEP (head-end power) activating on Amtrak P42DC #106. In a previous video, ACS-64 #633 was exchanged for this locomotive. This is on the Northbound Vermonter to Saint Albans, VT. Enjoy!

The HEP is engine driven. In simpler words, the prime mover supplies the HEP through a static inverter.

Some of the Genesis P 32 & P 42 in scale models DCC sound systems speakers don't sound as accurate with this series for some reason I know the difference sounds on EMD & GE prime movers. So far I haven't installed them on any of my HO SCALE Amtrak engines or even the early Dash 8 freight engines to the present GEVO sets. 🤔 Very good video.
