1:27 Main Street crossing : Removed and now Overpass (2019) BN desired this change for a number of years, after the SF merger (1996) the train traffic increased. Galesburg realized that underpasses/overpasses were required on Main Street for old CB&Q and SantaFe mainlines, and approached State of Illinois for funding. 19:40 Galva
+Dana Mack The train was moving at proper track speed. It only looks slow due to me having to zoom the camera in to a tighter shot so that the vestibule door framing wasn't in the way.
Time the mile markers. It's going 80mph, which is about the limit. Track conditions? Gimme a break. This is the BNSF (former CB&Q) mainline out of Chicago. They do their maintenance. Back in the day, the Burlington Zephyrs did over 100mph on this line on a regular basis. It does look slow, but that's because the ground is a lot farther away when viewed from a moving train than it is when you're in your car. There's a video on here somewhere of a cabride in a P42 doing 110 on the Chicago-St Louis run (former Alton/GM&O,) and from up there in the cab it looks like they are crawling. It's just an optical illusion. For fun, run the video at 2x speed, which would be 160mph - top Acela speed.
