Railfan window view from Amtrak's eastbound Capitol Limited between Rockville, Maryland and Washington, DC Union Station on former Baltimore & Ohio (now CSX) trackage. The video was shot from about 1:30 pm on Monday, June 7, 2021.
22:07 ok wtf is the point of having concrete ties for just 10ft while everything else is wooden? Also i love the Capitol Limited. Especially during the winter time.
Interesting, on this stretch of track shown here there have been 3 major rail accidents. 1906 B&O train crashed into the back of a passenger train in dense fog, killing 53 people and injuring more than 70 at the Terra Cotta station( Fort Totten). 1996 MARC train collided with Capitol Limited in Silver Spring killing 11 injuring 26. 2 Washington Metro trains Fort Totten collided 9 deaths and 80 injured 2009.
Notice the WMATA subway line next to it - that is the Red Line - the core of the WMATA in Montgomery County. I took it myself - not the Capitol Limited.
