Thanks for posting this series. As a habitué of the very popular live railcams at the La Plata Amtrak station, I really appreciate this chance to see part of the Marceline Subdivision from "ground level. "
You are correct. Several years ago, a Santa Fe employee told me that a cab signal system was in place on the passenger line in Illinois. He thought that the cab signal system was deactivated in the early 1960's. He said that ATS was in effect between Fort Madison and Kansas City. I tried to find an employee timetable from that period, but I didn't have any luck. He told me that the "Texas Chief" derailed at Lomax, IL on November 02, 1967 as the result of a broken wheel on a coach. The train was reportedly doing 90 MPH on that segment of track.
Not nearly enough passenger traffic-1 train each way every day, probably to be reduced to 3 trains a week in each direction now-to justify electrification.
That’s not going to happen unless BNSF electrify is there track because I mean It makes more sense if BNSF does it because they’re working on being eco-friendly and also there’s a lot of trains in that area
