I remember riding these trains back in 2017, when I was catching the train to Chicago it wasn't turned around, they say that the train was late last night and didn't have time to turn it around so in the morning we boarded the train and rode backwards to the Y and turned around and we were on our way, and this route at the time was using Horizon cars mostly, at first I herd that these cars were being borrowed for the Cascades and using Superliners temporarily and eventually using the new Venture Cars but they have not been using them, I know Amtrak has been short on Superliners for the long distance trains and I know one of the reasons is the local trains have been using them and I must say that train looks too big to be a local train
It does look too big to be a Local Train no doubt! Superliners are required in order for Amtrak to maintain speed of 79 MPH and Axle Count. This is a requirement by the CN Company that Illini, Saluki and City of New Orleans uses in Illinois. Hopefully when CN makes the changes again, we can go back to Amfleet, Horizon and Venture Cars. I miss my Business Class Cars!
