He doesn't envy his friends but sometime he question what makes them earn things easily or even moderately while he tries his hardest, while he spent years in isolation guarding the master emerald while going through adventure on his own. Not even the best treasure hunter can have the smallest things that easily. He is testing himself too much to the point of mental torture. He isn't doing it for his own gains, he wants to do things quick and with efforts, that's why he's frustrated. Ain't that something we relate to? As an artist, as a worker, etc. He keeps things to himself until someone judges him. But one thing we know about him, its his sheer will power and pride that he moves forward in life despite having bent up frustration but still being humbled and kind to have friends who can ease that anger.

Knuckles and Amy are very much alike. Knuckles endures a lot of physical and mental torture to uphold his duty guarding the Master Emerald and living in isolation. His life is the Master Emerald. Amy endures a lot of heartache from Sonic’s unrequited affection and self-cannibalism from her doubts of becoming a hero at Sonic’s level. Knuckles is a strong warrior imprisoned by his duty (the Master Emerald). And Amy is a hero with a handicap (needing a weapon to fight alongside with Sonic). Despite Amy shamefully making Knuckles cry, she allowed Knuckles to vent his bottled-up rage and confess his insecurities.

Dude most of what she wants is Sonic's love and affection or even validation from him letting her know that she's a hero in her own right, but the problem is how she wants to get that, the old Amy used to always chase after sonic due to affection and admiration and would sometimes force her way into Sonic's affairs without first judging the gravity of the situation and causing her to become endangered giving sonic more trouble, everyone knows she just wants to help but you got to remember that she just like tails is still just a kid, the only reason tails is allowed to fight is because he has already proven his worth, even though he can still doubt himself sometimes, Amy is strong but it's her obsession with sonic that clouds her judgment and her rationality and will sometimes let her desires slip case in point during Sonic's imprisonment, that's the old Amy, the new Amy is different she's lest forceful and is no longer completely obsessed with him, still in love, but not as pushy, she still tries her best to seek Sonic's validation but she will no longer force it

Dang. This hits hard even if it's a comic it's also a big part of life. Many people think and do and even act to the point they can't get out of that struggle and yet we all push through to most harshest of things, words and even actions and we all have those times where we think back, we look around, we think the now too and say things that makes us even sadder and hurtful but we all have to remember we are not alone, we are Enough and we can keep fighting for a better brighter day even if it's full of hardship we are not alone, we are Fighters. Props to the voice actors and showing the other side of Knuckles struggle and pain. Keep up the good work. You are all doing great.
