They were both married to other people. Amy to Gary Chapman and Vince to Janis (Oliver) Gill. Vince & Janis were divorced in 1998 and the Amy and Gary divorced in 1999. Then Vince and Amy married in March 2000.
I think Amy’s husband saw that they were soul mates even before the two couples were divorced. Amy & Vince were friends and neighbors prior to getting together after they divorced. Amy said once in an interview that her husband, Gary, had told her that Vince & her were both “made from the same cloth” and warned her not to fall in love with him. A premonition?
@@ktw321 I've often thought that Gary MUST have seen the chemistry (as we all do!). Vince is happy, secure and kind, and Amy obviously was drawn to that.

She has never revealed the truth about the suffering she had to endure at the hands of her first husband, for the sake of her children by him. Hence she became the target of criticism in the Christian world. She said that one day the truth will be revealed, but not by her. He was also extremely jealous of her success.
