Why has she dedicated 18 years to Teach First and addressing educational disadvantage? 2005 Training Programme Ambassador Amy Mitchell tells all to Head of Teach First Networks’ Tim Mobbs.
She explains her career journey from teaching science to secondary school pupils in Langdon Park Community School, near Canary Wharf in London, to the various roles she’s since held at Teach First, including scaling up programme design and supporting local regions, culminating in her current Executive role at Teach First.
In her story, Amy, who now lives in south Bristol, explains:
- how supporting her family is one of the key drivers for her commitment to the Teach First mission and social justice
- why the ambassador community is the “bedrock” of her life
- the importance of her and other ambassadors driving innovation, change and collaborating to enable children to be exposed to and experience things for the first time to change their lives - such visiting a city just a short distance from their homes or therapy on a farm
- and what she’s most looking forward to about The Great Ambassador Gathering.
Amy will be speaking about the role of Teach First in the school hall at the 1 July event. Watch her story here and connect with her on the day to swap ambassador experiences. Register here: Bit.ly/TFGreat...
