I we live right across the street from our fabulous award winning public library. We have a great Friends of the Library bookstore and they have special sales throughout the year. Between the greatest used book store in the state right up the street and the Library I have greatly added to my cookbook collection. I am 67 yrs. Old and have been cooking since I was under five years old. I have been a restaurant cook and an institutional cook, but I still keep learning new things. Love your videos!
Dear Amy, I live a solitary life, and in a small galley kitchen apartment, so I don't have much space. For cookbooks, what i have been doing, is buying the "federal green logbooks paperback size", and transcribing any and all recipes I find in my travels. I have a "few" of them, but i do admit to Jeff Smith, Mr. Food, a few Sunset books, on two shelves for them. I have even transcribed the history of the Santoku knife, and a few other things. (i'm part original geek and history of things catch me.) Thank you for the look into your "book nook".
This's so nice, wonderful and amazing collection, I love books so much, I had a big library, it's full of books in different titles, such as self development, arising kids, religion, learning languages , kids stories...etc, it's in 3 languages: Arabic, English and Spanish, thank you so much for sharing all those amazing videos with us. How many of these cookbooks do you draw from in your personal home cooking? Obsessive collections can be a real bear, particularly when you get ready to move, or as you get older and want to downsize. Trust me, I know! It can be almost overwhelming. I gather you have some very interesting cookbooks in your collection. Which are your top 3 favorites???
I don't use them as much as I should. One of my goals for this year was to cook a new recipe out of my cookbooks each week. I did it a few times...but not enough. :)I am just learning to cook so I don't have a favorite yet. Stay tuned tho! Hopefully by the end of the year I can say which one that I like best. What is your favorite cookbook?
AmyLearnsToCook My favorite cookbooks are: 1. Best-Ever Chicken - The Definitive Cook's Collection: Step-by-Step Chicken Recipes; 2. Ultimate Chinese; 3. Rival Crock-Pot - The Original and #1 Brand Slow Cooker; 4. The Frugal Gourmet Keeps the Feast; 5. 365 Ways to Cook Hamburger and Other Ground Meats; 6. Best Loved Casseroles; 7. A Gringo's Guide to Authentic Mexican Cooking; 8. Rachel Ray 30-Minute Meals #1 & #2; 9. Bread Machine Baking - Perfect Everytime.. I will also occasionally make homemade ice cream; old-fashioned style oatmeal-raisin walnut cookies, and will bake a deep dish Southern style peach cobbler. Other than that, I am not into desserts. My current kitchen includes the following cookware: Cast iron dutch oven-5 qt; 3 qt enamel covered saucepan; one enamel cast iron skillet with top; cast iron flat skillet; (2) sauce pans; one large pot for pasta cooking; (2) small sautee skillets; one large non-stick skillet; one covered enamel cast iron pot for cooking a roast; one cookie sheet; (2) cake pans; (1) glass cookware for making cornbread; one electric pressure cooker. This is what remains after giving some cookware away. It got to be too much to maintain once I moved.
