Amy could sing the alphabet, and it would still sound great. She could sing soul, jazz, ska. Just about anything. She was a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Not many vocalists get to sing with Tony Bennett AND the Rolling Stones. Amy Jade Winehouse. Gone, never ever to be forgotten.
I really wish I knew how much Amy liked ska before she died. When she got popular, she was just a faceless pop star to me. Knowing she loved ska would've made me appreciate her more
I didn't really even know who she was until after she left us. She had a fantastic voice, and I'm glad that we can still enjoy her legacy even though I'm a bit sad that there won't be more of her songs for us to enjoy.
Exactly what I was thinking! Amy had an affinity with the Caribbean, and I think she would have been very happy if she got clean and returned to St Lucia to make more music (which was apparently her plan before she passed).
Remember listening to this ep as a kid. Amy was one of my biggest idols when i was younger. Rest in peace man. And thanks to my ma for introducing me to ska and the skinhead scene.
I’ll never understand why people get butthurt about covers. Imagine writing a song, and then hearing another band play it. Probably one of the best feelings in the world.
Leroy Williams i read it wrong since she was always portrayed as a rude individual in news papers. I knew that it had a different meaning in the Ska Genre but i didn’t read it correctly
@@1981menso From 1982 until 1987 I feared that ska was dead and would never come back. But then it did come back and has been popping up here and there ever since. It's just too good to die!
@@johnnyb8825 don't think so such as Ska it brought a lot of fun into my life. And it was always "the others" who judged me on my smell! 😅😜Hope you'll get a good laugh best wishes for 2020
God bless you girl. You were and always will the greatest vocalist of this generation. Last time I saw you, we was sitting in Snaresbrook Crown Court, gonna see you again in heaven babe.
FYI, "The Ska EP" is a vinyl bootleg consisting of 4 of the bonus tracks on the deluxe 2-CD version of Back to Black that was released in 2008. Just pointing that out for anyone who wants these tracks -- they are much more widely available than a rare vinyl bootleg. If you want them on vinyl, with better sound than a bootleg from a CD, they are also on the 2LP half-speed remastered version of the album released in 2016.
I am 61grew up ska wen I first heard this girl she had every genre in music going back to Billie holiday I knew she would die young r.i.p she to good for this world x
love her voice, she was class with the specials at glas' you can see she was thrilled to be with the lads. her intro was class . "the sun is out THE SPECIALS are here you lucky lucky people "

That's not just a voice. A virtuoso jazz combo, ska band and gospel soul choir, all in one ! Oh, and Cupid.... let me put it this way.. had the little cherub heard this version, he'd forgotten all about his mission and pointed that arrow straight at Amy !
@@kcurran9913 i think k had her version of Cupid on a BBC album of songs performed live on radio one or it might have been an album of songs celebrating 50 years of number ones where different artists did one song from each year
True talent gone too soon...she joins the greats, and she really could have been one...UNDER-RATED POP STAR....AMY WINEHOUSE YOU ARE MISSED BY ME!!! Thank you for existing at the same time as me....
