I remember hearing of a very old interview where Elvis said he didn't like Mel Torme's singing very much. While Torme could hold a tune with the best of them, Elvis said there was no feeling, no emotion in his singing. In this performance there's feeling, emotion, and expressiveness. It comes across in spades, masterfully done!
