Before radio and records, music was always live and all musicians in any community were valued, thus the African influence on American "old time" music. We all helped each other to sound how we do.

I still think it's sad the opry don't have steel guitars anymore. Should come back to Texas where fiddles still sing and steel guitars still moan

I really love to see POC grace the stage of the opry and it shows that country music is for everybody and everybody is welcome at the opry and I really really love that also amythyst is absolutely amazing what a wonderfull performance

I don’t ever remember Charley Pride talking about race. I got the feeling he knew everyone knew he was black. He just sang hit songs and put out great albums.

Who's supposed to cater to you? If you like rap and hip hop just listen to it. Nobody is stopping you. By the way, other races create rap and hip hop. And who is catering to Amythyst? She's talented beyond belief. Nobody needs to give her anything. Sad that you seem to begrudge her the well deserved attention she's getting. You sound sad and bitter. Shame on you.

That's nice. Lots of white people *do* feel included when they listen to rap, and lots of black people don't. And not only do whites produce rap and hiphop, they are visible in the subculture. But how is this "catering"? Black people were always part of country music, as this video reminds us - they were just erased because so much of the base was furiously racist.

Here we go....Trying to turn the Opry into Austin City Limits. It's bad enough that Country is not Country anymore but now we are goin to add Genres that don't belong and sing about Race. This singer is NOT Country. Opry was founded on COUNTRY Music.

Blacks, Whites and Latinos founded country music. Pop Country, Rap Country, R and B Country, Rock and Roll Country are all part of Country Music even if you don't like it!

To me it is "Americana", part of the same legacy as so called Country music. Black musicians, African American instruments like the banjo, African-American stories have been, are and will be, part of that musical legacy.

Not playing victim at all when you are telling facts! Blacks, Latinos and Whites founded country music! But if we didnt know the history we would think country music was all White!
