The goal of this channel is to share the Arabia's remarkable collection with the world in a unique and entertaining way. So today we setup a product photography style photoshoot in the office themed around "people traveling on the frontier." Everything (all the artifacts) were pulled from the collection and photographed so you can see them in a truly unique way.
Stick around to the end and we give you a look into the NEXT video we have planned! Good things coming.

When the show starts you have the beautiful collection of pocket knife. And now I see you with one in the photo shoot. I think you and one of the guys on RU-vid who restore things should get together and do one of those pocket knife. And you can use that video on your channel and the one to restore it will have a cool store to tell on his channel. That big knife, Every house in Mississippi had one when I was young back in the 60's. Very cool knife. I never heard of one not being a problem. They was always sharp. It any, I just found this channel on Monday and today is Thursday 5/18/2023.. I will be here to watch everyone of these video. History is so cool. Its a shame we as a nation trying to forget some of it. Praying for you all.

I met Greg Hawley years ago at the Arabia. He was so kind with his knowledge and time. He was a true gentleman.

Just so you know, when I was a kid our youth pastor was the most amazing young man. Fun and funny and caring and charismatic and 50 years later, he’s still a very dear friend. Consider that a compliment I would say

Haha, yes, I’m going the “compliment” route for sure. :)

Thank you for taking the time to show us all a closer look! I loved the lock and key display during my visit to the museum. There was such a vast collection. Would love to see some up close or ones that might have been hiding farther back from the glass

To answer your top 5 things question -An axe -A musket (not necessarily rifled, smoothbore can be used as a shotgun) -A knife of some kind -Sewing materials for repairing clothes -And a tin cup Soldiers during the war used their bayonets to grind coffee beans so no need for a grinder! Also! Captain Randolph B. Marcy wrote a book in 1859 outlining tips and tricks for people moving West called "The Prairie Traveler, a Handbook for Overland Expeditions" should check it out!

Loved the Artifact Photoshoot! Hope you continue doing this! So glad to hear you will be sharing videos of the next excavation! It is so amazing how well preserved these artifacts are. Setting them up as if they were in a store ready for sale is such a great way to show them! Thank you!

I often think what they would think about our time and if they could imagine things like cell phones, pictures from the surface of Mars and Venus or their diseases being cured by antibiotics

My favorite item in your museum is the carpenter's tool box and tools associated with it. I'd love to see pictures of it from various angles. Are the ends tapered? I think a little, but can't tell from the videos. Also, how was it held together? Screws, nails, other? It fascinates me. Thank you.

Loved the hatchet --- the one you have in the video is a broadhead shingling hatchet, by the way, and not too different than the modern versions. There's at least one vintage shingling hatchet in my toolbox ;) .

There’s spray paint for ceiling tiles to cover them stains; or just new ceiling tiles 😬

When I see these artifacts I can't help but think of the investors that were ruined-and whether they had insurance as navigating the Missouri was well known to be hazardous due to it's constantly shifting sandbars, snags, and current. I wouldn't give much credence to the 'youth pastor' comment; just take it like an antebellum person that I'm sure by today's standards had extremely thick skins.
@ArabiaSteamboatMuseum
@ArabiaSteamboatMuseum Год назад
Haha! Thanks for the comment, Tom. Truth be told, I've been called much worse than a youth pastor. :) And to your comment about the investment these folks made, there WERE insurance companies at this time. There were 5 different insurance companies that had claims on either the boat or cargo. When the boat was considered a complete loss and all 5 companies paid out what was owed, the total (insured value) came up to $18,200.
@tomservo5347
@tomservo5347 Год назад
@@ArabiaSteamboatMuseum $18,200 is $638,096.28 today as the dollar has declined in value 97% since 1856! Thanks for the information about the insurance claims. I think of Lloyd's of London whose original purpose was insuring ships and cargo. Amazing just how international the Arabia's cargo was.

Are you ever going to scan all the artifacts and sell them for NFTs? Would be a great idea for more income for the museum just a thought P. S. I hope I get credit for the idea if you its a success!
