An Aerial History Of The Treasures Of The British Monarchy | Royal Britain

British History is punctuated throughout with legendary stories of Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, Dukes and Duchesses, who have all played a vital role in shaping the Britain we know today.
Beautifully filmed from the air, Royal Britain tells the story of the monarchy through the places that bore witness to murder, romance, politics, execution and celebration. We explore the sweeping landscapes where battles were fought for the crown and dynasties changed.
Current day Britain was eventually formed after centuries of war between England, Scotland and Wales. The castles, palaces and houses where these battles were masterminded and fought still exist to connect the thread of Royalty from the Norman invasion in 1066 up to the present House Of Windsor. This is a unique aerial look at the history of the monarchy that will inform and entertain.

This was a very well done documentary. However, there were many times during the video where the music was way to loud and drowned out the Narrator. If there was any way to go back and turn down the volume of the music, it would be so much nicer to absorb the historic narrative. Thank you.

This made me miss England so much! I visited last December and within my two weeks visit, I was able to go to a couple of places from this video: The Tower of London, York Minster, Old Royal Naval College (the site of the former Greenwich Palace), The Queen's House & Westminster Abbey. My sister lives about 10 minutes (walking distance) from The Queen's House so that area became one of my favorite places to stroll about in the mornings, as well as Greenwich park 😁 These buildings are as grand as you'd imagine they are. It felt so surreal being able to see them with my own eyes and be able to actually touch the stonework and whatnot. I'd say that with so many treasures in England, a two-week visit is quite short! You will spend a couple of hours touring these sites, especially if you're a history enthusiast like me and next thing you know, it's night time 😅 but I am coming back again later this year and plan on staying for at least a month. I aim to visit as many places featured in this video as I can 🥰

I am 8:50 in and wondering why Timeline "dumbed down" the vocabulary in this presentation? The words Henry II uttered on that fateful night in France, which we are all familiar with but probably weren't really historically accurate to begin with, are changed from turbulent to troublesome. He is then later beaten with "branches" by the clergy during his penance. At the point in the program I've reached, the diadem employed during Henry III impromptu coronation is referred to as a gold band. I'm not trying to be a snob here, I mean I knew a lot of this from OTHER Timeline programs. The English language is FILLED with fantastic descriptors honed over the centuries. If educational programs like this won't make use of them, how's the next generations vocabulary going to fare....not that it's presently doing well.

Please stop with the 'Richard III murdered his nephews' garbage. Since the boys (and their sister) had been declared illegitimate by Parliament via Titulus Regius, they could not be king. Plus, there were other potential claimants, and they were all alive and well under Richard. However, when Henry Tudor took the throne and married the boys' sister, he had Titulus Regius repealed *unread*, because he couldn't marry an illegitimate wife. By doing so, though, he made the boys legitimate again as well, and gave them a better claim to the throne than he had, and he couldn't have that. Besides, if Richard *had* murdered his nephews, he would have displayed the bodies and claimed that they died of natural causes, so that there would be no questions, and *that never happened*.
