I am a Vietnam veteran. When Richard Nixon started the relationship with China, they suddenly became our best friends. What people didn't realize is that companies going into China were involved in a partnership with the Communist party. I believe that in their minds, they are not stealing anything They are partners and are entitled to any information, processes and proprietary functions of any industry that they are partners in. If we get involved in a conflict with China we are in deep trouble. Thousands of factories were closed in the United States. They are so entrenched in our economy that thousands of stores and companies that depend on manufacturing in China would have to close their doors. I don't see our representatives warning people to find alternative sources

And while caught if their trap, they had a fire and everyone died except one diver who was outside the sub looking at how to get them unstuck. He surfaced and was picked up by a surface support ship. You are a great representation of the Dunning-Kruger effect. With that statement you just made, you clearly have no clue how the economy works. When people talk about the debt ceiling, they're ignorantly talking about only half of the ledger. The "national debt" is our money out. Our GDP, assets, interest and taxes is the other half of the ledger. Aka its the money in. All the "debt" we have is literally how much money we have printed. That's what it is in the simplest, yet most accurate way. I don't remember what the national debt is up to, but let's say it's $32 trillion. That means we have minted $32 trillion. When you have the world's #1 economy, other countries are propped up by it, oil is traded in this currency, etc... With all of those transactions going on, it's vital to continue to introduce money in to your economy. And just to punt the ball hime... when we "pay down our debt," that literally means, they are deleting money. They are taking in the oldest & most degraded bills and they are shredded and not replaced. That's how we pay down our "national debt." It's amazing how no one corrects this. I guess it's easier to be completely ignorant to world economics. The more you know

The problem is China unethically take over Western companies all the time. For example Fonterra New Zealand (a dairy company) were warned not to go into a partnership with China, but the did. The reason was Fonterra knew they could set up massive unregulated cruel indoor factory farms (illegal in NZ). After a few years in China and with 3 farms with over 14,000 NZ cattle each farm (all chained to their pens), the Chinese took over all the intellectual property. and Fonterra ended up with nothing. Fonterra deserved nothing too, because they tried to out smart animal welfare laws. Sadly those animals are still suffering and will continue to do so.

You are ignorant about the role of diplomats. Burns is respected by Chinese diplomats. What Diplomats 'say' in an interview to the press and what they are allowed to talk about v.s. what is really understood and talked about to other diplomats are two very different things. There's no Democrat or Republican President that would replace Burns and I doubt if even the Chinese would want us to.

@GeoScorpion
@GeoScorpion 4 дня назад
@@pechorin5842 Yeah? Is that what your Chinese diplomat buddies told you personally when you were yukking it up at your local tavern? Short of that, your comment implies that without talking to Chinese diplomats directly and in person, neither of our opinions would have any credibility. That's not only not the only way to determine the respect afforded our diplomats, of course. Reading and listening to the CCP responses every time Burns speaks, the reactions and over-reactions to his words, the formalities that are observed v.s. whether he gets dissed at events and the level of people who talk to him (or, sometimes pointedly do NOT talk to him) at social gatherings. Further, you can read who is quoted in Chinese print media the most. So, have I talked to any of the Chinese diplomats or politicians who deal with Burns? No, of course not and your point was not only ignorant, but you then went on to say who the Chinese diplomats DID respect as if you had. Also disingenuous.
@pechorin5842
@pechorin5842 4 дня назад
@@GeoScorpion You are easily triggered. I can tell you George Bush were called "old friend of Chinese people" by Deng Xiaoping and many top Chinese leaders. This is the ultimate praise toward an foreign diplomat in Chinese political circle.Terry Branstad have been establishing relationship with China since he was the governor of Iowa. He know Xi jinping since 1985 when Xi was only an local offical. He regularly meet with Chinese top officals even during the trade wars, which is the low point of Sino-American relations. On the other hand, what the last time burns even get the chance to meet key Chinese leaders?
@GeoScorpion
@GeoScorpion 4 дня назад
@@pechorin5842 Sure, Deng Xiaoping called Bush of the Chinese people" (as was Kissinger) and Xi called Putin an old friend ("...普京是中国的老朋友。") during the May 16 joint signing of the reaffirmation of their unbreakable friendship, but if you're using that as a measure of 'friendship' with anyone in the CCP, then you're seriously lacking any sense of irony. Of course, Bush knew Deng. He also was best buddies with Noriega, Marcos, etc. He was CIA! He also went to war with a lot of his former buddies, so that's about how far 'friendship' declarations are regarded by anyone serious. You can see on camera and on the public schedule when Burns is meeting with officials both formally and informally and there's usually press conferences on both sides immediately afterward which you can read about on XinHua and other state news channels, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. There was a period of time after Pelosi's visit to Taiwan where NOBODY dared meet ANYBODY from the US (including Lloyd Austin's counterpart in the military) but that was partly a diplomatic spanking by Xi and partly fear of being labeled a traitor during a very visible shakeup of top leadership where people were drowning in their own bathtubs. I'm not sure what your argument is (or WHY you're even bothering to argue) but, Burns by every measure is respected (though not liked) by his counterparts in China. Sorry that he's working for a Democratic administration at present and that may have your britches in a bunch, but he's a career diplomat and apolitical, so you shouldn't be holding that against him.

Predictably, there's a glaring absence of any self-reflection here, or even any willingness to entertain the idea that the US may have made missteps in its relationship with China. Also, Burns framing the conflict as a "battle of ideas" is akin to the kind of fairy tale we tell young children. The conflict has nothing to do with ideas, especially as China is running an efficient capitalist system. This is strictly about the United States' obsessive need to be the dominant world power. They cannot tolerate a rival power, and would rather have a catastrophic world war than peaceful coexistence.

Dude you have absolutely no frigging idea what China's system actually IS. It's definitely not capitalist. Capitalism without rule of law is BS. Xi Jinping is the most communist leader ever existed in the recent decades. In the film they talked about national security. They couldn't be wronger. It's all about Xi's red guard mentality. Our country is abducted by this monster made by the cultural revolution.

The fact that Chinese local enterprises are becoming so competitive that many foreign companies cannot continue to make the kind of profit they used to do, so exciting is one option. That is the basic law of capitalism.

Its actually because China take over Western companies in a coup. Fonterra New Zealand a dairy company were warned not to go into a partnership with China, but the did. The reason was Fonterra knew they could set up massive unregulated cruel indoor factory farms (illegal in NZ). After just a few years in China and with 3 farms with over 14,000 NZ cattle in each farm (all chained to their pens for life), the Chinese took over all the farms and intellectual property. and Fonterra ended up with nothing. Fonterra deserved nothing too, because they tried to out smart animal welfare laws. Sadly those animals are still suffering and will continue to do so.

60 minutes used to be a great middle of the road journalism outlet to get fair and balanced news. Now that they have revealed their true colors (since around 2016) and the correspondents have made this their platform to report on their very own personal-lefty liberal-activist pet projects, it’s hard to believe anything they say and impossible to take them serious on virtually anything. RIP 60 Minutes. You used to not suck, but here we are.

I love the 87 year old Georgian grandmother. There needs to be more people with gumption like her. She won’t be taken down without a fight. She reminds me of stories my grandmother used to tell me of the Armenian grandmothers who carried weapons to protect themselves from the Ottoman Turks. It shouldn’t have to be that way, but I’m glad they are women like this still around.
