My Sunday morning coffee treat! I also have another use for Herb Robert: My garden had become a toilet for all the neighbouring cats UNTIL Herb Robert appeared! Now they go elsewhere. May, many thanks again for all the wisdom and beauty.
Thank you Terri. I'm delighted to know that we can use this lovely herb in so many ways. I've never hear this before and I've very grateful to you for making this charming and informative video.
Yes Stinky Bob aka Herb Robert is a profuse growing herb in my garden, in NZ. I don;t tend to use it enough, so now I know more about him I shall get into making tinctures. Thank you Danu
Such good timing for me. I have been literally spending days pulling up Shiny Geraniums, roots and all (the most invasive and prolific weed on my property by far) which is the cousin of Herb Robert, but I happened to leave all the Herb Robert I found as they are a gentler here and much less quickly spreading natural ground cover...and now I know it's useful too!
Great - synchronicity! You can't beat it. There are also many more uses to Herb Robert than I could mention. Hope he will be helpful to you too in some way. xx
I would get Culpepper's own book - "Culpepper's Complete Herbal". It is out of copyright of course so there are lots of different publishing companies making it available. You could check a website called Forgotten Books too xx
Hello again Terri I'm still catching up on your videos. I've heard of Herb Robert & Culpeper, & will look into both some more. Hope you had a Beautiful Full Moon As Always! 👌🌸🐝
Thank you Terry ! I wonder if this plant can be taken for people who have experienced blood disorders (clots) from the “special” jab ? When you said , it seems to grow everywhere it made me think that humanity needs it. ❤
Possibly - there is talk of those with certain types of clots may be affected by radiation so possibly. Herb Robert is anti-bacterial/fungal too so he would certainly be cleansing xx
Hello, your videos are so wonderful and so full of incredible and wonderful information. This particular herb grows wild all around my woods. I have never picked it as I did not know about its healing properties until I saw this video. My mother in law who was very knowledgeable about wild plants pointed it out to me many years ago and gave me a piece of it to plant in my garden. I loved its delicate beauty and enjoyed its return every spring. You mention a person named Culpepper in your talk and was wondering who this author is and what books are available from him or her. I’ll look forward to hearing from you!
Culpepper was a 17th century English herbalist. His book can be downloaded for free from a number of websites specialising in old books or you can buy a copy xx
Hi Terri. I haven't heard of herb robert in more than 25 years. I didn't know about the radiation thing. Thank you for that. 💓 How did the solar thing go? All good?
That is so interesting and I will certainly read Culpepper’s book. Could I ask if you could advise about what I could use to ease the very fine skin on my eyelids? Since hitting perimenopause I find that the skin here is so easy to crack and feel like it is sore and almost tearing. I keep well hydrated but this is really irritating me and I wondered if a hormonal change? I don’t wear make-up often so don’t think it is that. My eyes are often dry too. Thank you.
There could be dozens of reasons - it is impossible to say in a comment. Try resting your eyes from screens and maybe include a B complex in your supplements. xx
Could you use an infusion of Herb Robert as a hair rinse to help get rid of lice eggs? How might you prepare it? I recently got nits and I’m struggling to rid myself of the eggs (have used apple cider vinegar and coconut oil) 🌼🧚♀️
Great idea! Sounds like a great solution to me. I would rinse with a strong infusion and leave it in, don't rinse it out. Let me know how it works for you xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden okay great thanks Terry! Love your vids! 🤗 now just to find some Herb Robert where I live! (In the mountains of southern Spain, I hear it grows here..)
THANK YOU! You are educating us about an important, yet little known, herb. I appreciate that you showed close ups of it so I can start looking for it in the small, wooded area of my yard. We need to become more educated about our plants than we tend to be about our medicines and all of their side effects. Mother Nature has provided us with a wealth of healing and nutrients to use that we've forgotten about. Blessings from the US.
Southern Middle Tennessee checking in😘 Going out today to forage...I will be on the lookout. Little Buttercup Cottage on 8 1/2 acres. Blessings in abundance to you xx
I had never heard of Herb Robert until I got your weed handbooks a few years back. This spring I started wanting Herb Robert in my life and my garden, so it didn’t surprise me when I was making a trail into an overgrown and long neglected bit of my land, and found a large stand of well developed plants with lots of little healthy ones too. Call them with your heart’s desire, and they will come, eh?
Thank you Terri. My husband used to bicycle quite a lot around the lanes here and would tuck a bit of herb Robert onto his head under his cap. He said that it eased a headache. I had forgotten all about it until now. It brought back memories. X
Terri. It was not herb Robert my husband used but betony... It suddenly came back to me... Betony...a different plant. My memory fails me sometimes. I did not know herb Robert helped with bleeding.
Good morning Terri! Thank you for making these beautiful and informative videos! I enjoy the scenery, the knowledge and the dogs! Have a wonderful day!
I put 3 small leaves in my garden salads from time to time. I read years back that it is a replacement for coriander. Not so sure about that, but it's in my garden for good reason methinks. 😂💞👍
I have loads of Herb Robert everywhere. It seeds itself in pots, driveways, under my table in our courtyard, everywhere. It’s incredibly prolific. Yes the fragrance leaves a lot to be desired but that’s nature.
Good morning Terri and Lol. This is another video I've needed to watch. I first became aware of Herb Robert from a board game. I purchased Wildcraft years ago to play with my granddaughters. Wildcraft is a game of cooperation, and the players all work together to the common goal. Herb Robert is featured as one of the healing plants along the players' journey. He is identified as being helpful for sore throats, toothaches, cuts and diarrhea. He grows throughout various areas of North America, and is featured in Edible and Medicinal Plants of Canada, copyright 2014, p 222. Although they are teenagers now, my girls still ask me to bring Wildcraft to the table. ... Finding your channel years ago has been a blessing to me. Have a great week, and gratitude to you both. 💚🐝🌿
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yes, it is by John and Kimberly Gallagher. I also purchased the set of 'Herb Fairies, A Magical Tale of Plants & Their Remedies", books by Kimberly Gallagher. These are timeless, and educational for plant lovers of all ages. Have a great week. 🐝🦋🐞
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your knowledge in such a beautiful and natural way, I love your pets, the horses, your garden and you are very beautiful, I can sense that you love what you do, love from Germany
Thank you for introducing Herb Robert. I have this in my garden. How is it best to use as a tea please? And is there a good source for contraindications?
I don't know of any contra-indications - always avoid herbs in medicinal doses when pregnant or breastfeeding. As a tea, like any tea, chop up finely and infuse in hot water.
Herb Robert is a beautiful plant. I would love to see a special segment on neuropathy and the numbness in finger tips and toes. I have uterine cancer, and I take chemo treatments that have caused me this numbness. I trust your knowledge and experience in this matter. I'm Melissa, and I live in Mississippi USA.
Melissa I cannot do a 10 or 15 minute video on such a deep deep issue. I suggest you go and see a herbalist or naturopath close to you for a full consultation. xx
I saw a video a while back of a Native American teaching about the white cedar aka tree of life, he used a hot foot soak to treat neuropathy, worth researching imo.
Thank you. I agree with your views on things and I really appreciate your herb and medicine knowledge. Herb Robert isn't one that I've used. Isn't it awesome, the way plants (herbs) we can use and need to be healthy mysteriously appear in our yards and gardens. I've had herbs show up out of nowhere a number of times. Those herbs being ones (medicinal) I truly need and use. Cheers!
You are right - I think it is incredible the way plants turn up, just as we need them. I always think of Purple Loosestrife and the way he cleans up dioxins, which were only invented recently; and the way mushrooms can clear up oil spills. Nature is incredible and unfortunately many of our leaders and scientists still think they can do better! Their arrogance is astounding. But, lets stay positive and show our appreciation, as you do. Have a great week xx
HI! Thanks so much for your weekly films. We are so blessed to have so many natural remedies to help us, if we just take the time to look and enjoy all that mother nature has to offer. Thank you for teaching us and showing us the way. X
Herb Robert showed up in my garden spontaneously a few years ago. I didn't know what it was, I liked the petite flowers. When I got your Weed Handbooks I recognized it in Vol. II right away! Finally I knew what that plant was. My Herb Robert looks exactly like the plant growing in your garden, and not like the pictures for Geranium Maculatum, it is definitely Geranium robertianum, I am in Northern California. Well I do have Irish ancestors on both sides of my family tree, maybe the faeries brought it to me. 😃 Thank you for the film on this beautiful and useful herb.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I so agree! Thank you so much! Oh and I found I had Geranium Macutatum growing in a pot for many years, I didn't know it and it has different the leaves mostly. And after flowering the cranebills clued me in. So I have both!! Thank you!
Funny really so many people looking to get rid of this herb and yet I've been looking for it. I've seen them growing wild on my walk route. I might have to steal one when it goes out of flower.
How much herb robert would you use to make a tea, I've been watching your videos for some time now and look forward to each new one! The music, the scenery, the dogs and your lovely way and the important information you give, thank you so much, you are amazing!
Thank you so much, for watching. It depends who you are making it for and why. As a medicinal tea for one person, I would use a good heaped tablespoon finely chopped. xx
Thank you for this Terri! Very interesting and helpful information which is prompting me to explore our fields to see if I can locate and identify Herb Robert here. We still have a bit of time in zone five before many things to bloom. LOVE your pants!🌿🪻🌷☕️
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden oh that is interesting as my brother had throat cancer and we gave him lots of herb Robert tea alongside his medications and radio therapy. He is now fit and well and has been free from throat cancer for over five years
I have Herb Robert all over my garden, it literally takes over if I don’t control it and you’re so right Terri…it stinks! I didn’t know the healing properties of it until watching your video. I will be harvesting some later today and experimenting for my very old dog who picks up fleas from the foxes that come in my garden and also my own health issues. Nature has been trying to tell me for nearly 30 years I need this stinky herb! I guess I have to learn to love the smell of it 😅
@DanusIrishHerbGarden Hi Terri. I am so excited, I went for a walk this afternoon, and I came across herb Robert. I could not believe it. Thank you for your video. This is another herb for my knowledge xx
Herb Robert is my childhood smell, I've always always loved it and still do. Takes me back to Wales and long hot summer days. My sense of smell must be a bit different :)
Thank you for sharing this, I've had some friends who have grown up with herbal remedies tell me whatever the remedy it'll grow near the problem (poison ivy is what they used as an example)- so maybe that's why Herb Robert is becoming more profuse. Enjoy your week.
I totally agree - I have seen that happen myself and in relation to Herb Robert, as an annual, sometimes he would go missing and then pop up again. At the moment he is everywhere!! xx
Hello again terri, oh perfect film again today, so satisfying, those beautiful creatures with darling little fellow so happy on the moor,😊make s me smile, thankyou, xxwhow yes I think herb Robert really wants to be in the lime light this week. I have been talking to my friend and my older sister about him.i just love him very much, im going to start useing some, possibly drying should i?.im trying to find the best things for one of my daughters to try for hemariods? She is a long way living from me at the moment. I will be seeing them in summer holidays .she is a teacher. Also could you recommend more that she could try..definitely want to make more use of Robert, I have plenty in my front garden so im pleased. I know that im probably the only one in my road who is exited to have it in my garden 😊.never mind..my goodness I actually did let miss stinging nettle sting my wrist s last week, for arthritis, oh goodness I think she over did it znd instantly it was very much stinging. Phew.!I don't think I will allow her to stinging my feet and hips ect,a bit much all at one..I was collecting some yummy goosegrass for my girls. Lots of love to you Hetty and hope you will find relief after the Nettle skin. Herb Robert can help relieve piles and so can Horse Chestnut and I expect Blackberry/Bramble leaves xx
Thank you for another amazing video!! I love watching your videos every sunday 💕 I live in the U.S. and don’t think herb robert grows here naturally but I may start some seeds in a pot?
Three or four years ago, Herb Robert appeared under my back porch. I had never seen it in this area before that. I had no idea what it was at the time but I left it because I thought it was so pretty. Since then it has spread right down the side of my house. It is so delicate looking with the shape of it's leaves and tiny pink/mauve flowers. Incidentally, I do really love the scent of it. I find it organic and earthy. (I haven't crushed any of it's leaves though) ♥
Thank you Terry!! Rudolf B reuss in his book "cancro" suggests to drink a tea of geranium ro rertianum cold. 1 cup daily. (half teaspoon of herb). I will start to pick up for a tisane as before we were afraid being not sure .
Thank you so much for this information. I have a lot of this geranium in my garden. I Bruised the plant in a little bit of Jameson, which is a very nice combi. I will share your info, for health and a good earth. Blessings from Netherlands.
Oh how I wish you could have done this video last year. I knew it had to be good for something. But I didn't trust my phone app identification. And had no other sources. It was growing everywhere ,choking other herbs , so I tried to pull it out. Feeling all along , I shouldn't do this. I wonder if I can find any more. Thankyou for info
I am sorry to hear that. I suggest respectfully, please don't rely on phone apps, develop your intuition which seemed to be telling you something. Your intuition will never fail you xx
Thankyou. Im a gardener with a local council. Whilst weeding recently I have felt that I should leave the herb Robert. It was almost like I was led to do so! Do you ever do rituals to the Mother Goddess? ❤
I am so glad you left this little plant and you are fortunate to be able to tap into your intuition. I do little rituals in my garden now and again, following the Wheel of the Year. xx
They've never had a problem with kidney stones, which is a common guinea pig complaint. It's such a pretty plant I leave patches to fill wild corners.😅
Hi thank you so much for this I have lots of Herb Robert in my garden and work at screen all week 😳how much tea would you think? I take a Rosemary and Sage tea every morning thank you again
Good evening Terri, lovely video, so much to see and your gardens are looking good. Yes herb Robert is in my gardens I read up on this particular herb some years ago I have some of pink flowering variety and white flowers, I introduced it to my neighbour she decided it's pungent smell was too much for her, Love it or hate it it's been around longer than we have, much underrated herb and flower. I always say if it was hybridised on sale in garden centres people would probably buy it, but instead it is considered another weed for the bin. Lovely day for the garden. Hugs and Blessings to you both.💚🌹
Very good morning, Mrs. Terry von Connachta. I' s just 6:37 GMT, and I thank you for, nothing more, not eaqal or less, then creating the whole univers. Thank you!. hi,Terri......in german we calls it....RUPRECHTSKRAUT.................it is a very old herb and we forgotten it.....but you shows me,that I can use it today also............thank you..................have a great sunday......blessings and Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany☘☘☘xx
You are so lucky! And yes, the earth can heal if we allow her to. She is so kind to us to share her own medicines that I am humbled and thoroughly grateful.
Very good info Terri.. My knowledge increases..Thank you! You can use fresh leaves on your dog to repel fleas and put some in dog beds as well. It won’t hurt them! Blessed be. Have a good week❤️
Super! I do love these little geraniums popping up all over the place - if it becomes too invasive it is very easy to pull, but I've never had that issue. Bloody cranesbill - it was mentioned in an old herbal, can't remember who - Pliny maybe or as you mentioned Culpepper - but the spelling of bloody was different LOL! Also laughed at the med deja vu! I wonder if it would help plantar fasciitis? Would you mix the tea with anything else and would you use it on pets (cats are more difficult with potential poison for things that are fine with pups it seems)? Thank you - nice to see the sun isn't it!
Great to see the sun. Whether I would mix Herb Robert with any other herb would depend on the condition. I leave cats to themselves - they are semi wild and seem to know what to do. xx
I really look forward to your videos every Sunday Terri. Thank you for making them! I have lots of Herb Robert in my garden. It found its way there by itself and I encourage it because it does keep my dog away from itself, I've noticed. I really like the smell. To me it smells very herby and I like that but no-one else in my family liked it and can't understand why I do, LOL. Another good thing about it is that, when you get too much of it, it is easy to remove because it has small roots. I've never tried making it into a tea or anything else, but perhaps I'll have a go now I've heard that you use it.
I don't suppose I think much about all the talk about radiation and what not that goes about these days, but I can certainly see how Mother Nature has a lot helpful gifts for us and in any case it's fascinating to learn about! I'll have to look into if we get Herb Robert here in Australia, but often it's differences like this between us and the British isles that often makes me want to return to the lands of my ancestors. 😊
One of my favourite wild flowers Herb Robert is so wonderful to hear how healing he is , i will try some tea There's tons of Sea Thrift here at the moment It's really stunning . I'm in awe of natural healing Terri just cant thank you enough for your beautiful films that inspire me each week 💛 My partners called Robert or Rob i'm looking forward to calling him "stinking Bob" ha ha ! he is a Biker with good humour it did make me laugh out loud when you said that & much needed today a good laugh ! always a joy to see the Dogs sniffing the air they are Wolves in cuddly disguise & the Cats usually asleep & relaxed , i love Horses & the beautiful Mare & her baby skipping about how wonderful to watch them all 💕 i have been feeling really drained in energy also this past month i almost seized up one day with muscles aches & pains ,made me kick start a total detox on myself , i am trying different Herbs & changing my bad food & drink habits to much less , feeling less achy but do you think there is any negative effects on our bodies from the recent huge solar flares because of the Northern lights shows & is there any truth to that even if anyone knows ?
Good job your partner has a good sense of humour. Stinky is quite an affectionate term though. 😂😂 Sorry you have felt so tired and achy, I think you could be right as lots of people are out of humour and there will be solar radiation from the flares but I haven't looked into it in any detail xx
Thank you for the education Terri. I thought it was a weed in my garden. Now I know better and I am letting him be and grow. A foot bath sounds lovely and thank you to another person who suggested it repels stray cats too. Here in Washington state, he is considered a class B "Noxious weed" though. 🙄
I love this herb and have used it.I gather it is also good for immunity.Thankyou for talking about this today,it seems to be another forgotten herb.Love your videos Terri . Thankyou so much,Janet from Scotland.
shout out from White Creek NY USA....I love your beautiful place...I wish I knew all about the herbs that can be grown in my yard....you have a beautiful Zen about you ....cant wait till your next video!
Good morning! Another beautiful plant to add to my herb journal. I've never heard of him. I couldn't wait to find out if he has shown his handsome face here in NC! He has and I will now be on the look out for Robert! Thank you for such indepth information and beautiful pictures! Please have a wonderful week!
I have it growing between the garden tiles, but small , probably seed it self out , I never remove them ,the flowers are pretty 🌸 thank u for the film ❤🙏🏻
Hi Terri thanks for the interesting talk on Herb Robert, i have it in my yard and our allotment always wondered what it was. Enjoy the week ahead Love to you and yours xxx
We are really blessed to have you. You explain simply and help us to explore the wonderful plants nature has gifted to us. Thank you 😊. I look forward to watching more. Saffron
