Hey Paul, great performance with what you assumed to be a trainwreck! Just wanted to let you know that I went 3-0 to win my local mh3 draft last night with UW Cheons! Featuring a copy of wrath of the skies, good cheap removal, and a bunch of card draw with a couple big eldrazi at the top end of a mostly energy focused deck. Roil cartographer was the mvp! Love the content keep up the great work

Paul at around 25:00 you responded with Tune to opponents Wrath. Wasn't it better to float the mana from spawn tokens and cast Electrozoa after the sweeper resolves?

Since I watch your videos I got so much better drafting, just got a deck that was so disappointing to build because i felt like every cool card was missing but the synergies and safe picks by your rules made it possible to go 7-1 . Thank you

Nice work! Yeah I tend to draft more consistent and "boring" decks but it's tended to work out for me. THE DECK IN THIS VIDEO IS NOT A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS!

I've only finished watching the draft/build so no idea how this went. But I think with this very interactive, very difficult set it's worth holding up to the early "bomb" best card drafts and see if you can round up a package when the draft wheels around in reverse. This is a good example for the green/reds. Fill up with some filler reds on pack one, and then pounce back on the good cards if they happen to be open. And that's because lots of people have to look for synergy, even if the colours are "right" the card may not be. This set is well beyond my ability - Platinum 3, barely scraping 50% win rate. EDIT: Paul too good of a player to let a janky deck hold him back.

Discarding that Island instead of Tune the Narrative to Ral and the Implicit Maze with three blue cards in hand and no blue source in play except Solar Transformer was absolutely psychotic 😂 Fantastic games though, well played and well(??) drafted 👍

(Commenting after the draft) I think chrysalis was a sign from above to move in from your pack 1. Temur Eldrazi seemed reasonable for your seat after the fact but bit required a leap of faith for the bomb common.

edit: this deck seems like a 4-3, 5-2 its weird sometimes the decks that dont seem like they will do well will do well, and the ones that on paper are busted get rekt. In g1 at 25:00, is there a reason to not play the electrozoa there by floating with the spawns vs playing the tune the narrative?

P1p2: doesn’t the 1/3 land fall energy creature make more synergy sense, as UG is more likely to be Eldrazi? Of course taking a good W uncommon can’t be actively bad p2

This draft was brutal. Every good green card opened in pack 2, but too far away to pivot...just for the magic gods to mess with you in P3P1 with two of black's best cards in the set. Time to scrap for every win I'm guessing D:

I went 6-3 with a deck using 2 of each. Any more than 3 rams seems kinda bad, you want the fliers to actually push damage through all the ground creatures. Meanwhile if you have enough low drop artifacts you can chain multiple rats together

While you were clearly not happy with your deck after the draft, it's worth noting that you will probably pick up some wins no matter how bad your deck is on playskill alone.

One of the biggest issues with the format to me has been that the good and required really energy cards get easily scopped into the Gur Eldrazi build. So most of the decks hinge on being all in on the synergy package in the color pairing but he Eldrazi deck doesn't really get punished dipping into other energy heavily etc.... So Eldrazi is the best deck and its the only deck that can utilize whatever good stuff comes ita way

4:12 - i've heard you say this several times about orzhov, but it's not actually correct. right now it's actually 4th from the bottom. it's above simic, izzet, and golgari. i agree orzhov is bad, but the fact that it's the 4th worst and still unplayable is just because MH3 is a terrible format with about the worst color balance we've ever seen (if not the worst). it's one of the several color pairs to avoid in the format, but not actually the worst one.

Ive loved watching this format (including of course, your wonderful videos) but ive found it my least favourite environment to actually draft in a very long time, which is a shame because it has some really cool ideas running through the set.

Hi Paul, since you always question towards getting rank 1 mythic each season and not sure how your competition is doing, this is a good resource of why you cant get there. Check 17lands leaderboards, this season no1 mythic has a 50% trophy rate.

LOL if only you picked up that Chrysalis P2P1, then the world would've been your oyster as you were set up for RGU or RGW. Lesson learned, always take the Chrysalis.

I’ve won through 3 copies Wrath of the Skies. IMO It doesn’t mesh at all with any of the white decks in the format and the decks that run it are worse as a result. Maybe it’s ok in Orzhov but ewwww Orzhov Also i’m gonna bet 5-3. Your piloting skills can make even the stinkiest of drafts pan out EDIT: Holy crap a trophy off the back of the Ral saga getting 5 for 1s, wow
