@@Wicked_Fox Anime focuses more on the quality of the art than the animation, but that doesn’t mean it’s lazy. Animators in Japan are treated horribly, and it always depends on the anime. Animation is extremely hard, and shortcuts are used all the time. Point is, quality of the art is more important than the quality of the animation (even though the animation is some of the smoothest shit ever sometimes.)

Geez, and to think that Trey Parker and Matt Stone actually animated South Park's very first episode, Cartman Gets An Anal Probe in this same exact way! Let's just all be absolutely grateful they had the patience and energy to stick to it all the way, got the episode made and aired on Comedy Central in 1997 and made South Park as we know it even possible at all!
I have had experience with doing South Park stop motion and it is NOT easy. I basically felt like how they did when I tried doing it. Even worse is when you f**king sneeze, breath the wrong way, or drop the camera and f**k up the whole scene making you set it up again or restart from the beginning. Definitely satisfying though once you get it finished
Is it any wonder Flash and CGI took off when stuff like this was the alternative as opposed to jsut moving digital puppes? I mean, not to rag on traditional animation, but to get anything remotely smoothe took AGES to animate.
When I watched this episode, I didn’t realize what they were doing was cut-out animation. Considering the year this took place in, they would’ve been better off learning an old version of Blender to replicate the cut-out animation, but then again, this was Trey and Matt’s retelling of the creation of South Park, before it became a series, and the 100 more line in this episode probably made some fans wonder what would happen after the series hit 100 episodes, only for that to be answered in season 7.
I like doing lip sync, I even did a stopmotion with the paper mouths and it was prettu relaxing despite me staying up for 8 hours and having to make the figures by hand
I remember when I watched this as a teenager, I was annoyed that they did the lip sync according to which *letter* was being said instead of, you know, the actual sound. Like, when I animated _South Park_ style, I included a whole chart with IPA symbols and stuff.
when i first started animating i lowkey used this episode as reference for how to animate mouth movements, and then i ended up doing nothing with it because animating mouths sucks imo
before I tried animating like digitally I tried doing stop motion once with little paper cut-outs... I didn't even do lip-sync but I absolutely hated it.
Lip sync has been something I've been pretty good at for my whole time animating.. But if you're animating without sound that's a whole different story
If you've ever wondered why they only do mouth open and closed positions in Anime, this is why! I've dabbled in animation myself and Lip syncing is without a doubt the worst part.
So, is this video making fun of the episode for the message it's sending? Or are we actually taking the message? Either way lip sinking sucks and I'm glad they made a joke about it.
