Ray Waters has a big appetite. It's a big appetite for life, for friends and family, for Rodney Scott's BBQ, and more and more, he has a big appetite for listening.
At the Village, we don't want to listen to Black
voices only during the month of February, or
LGBTQ+ voices in June, or women's voices on
Mother's Day.
We want this community to be known for our
appetite for listening all the time because listening
is fundamentally an act of love, and Jesus said his
followers would be known by our love for others.
When we love someone, we listen to them, we grow in empathy, we gain wisdom from diverse perspectives, we begin to see systematic injustice, our biases are challenged so we can deal with them, and we validate the experiences of the people we listen to.
We hope you're with us on this journey of developing an appetite for listening, learning, and growing as we walk together through life.
