The idea of a kitchen being the most used space is absolutely correct and designers need to focus more on making these spaces interesting and usable rather than retrofitting.
@@bougiehard6653 true but the user group who uses the kitchen least is less. If you’re talking about students, most of them live in shared homes/hostels . While major user groups are families who live in a proper house and need a fully functioning kitchen.
Excellent one this - would love to have more of a sense of the flow of the house in its entirety tho. Often find you videos leave me unable to adequately understand how the dwellings work as whole.
Thanks for the feedback, it’s definitely something I’m working on. Sometimes I don’t film particular rooms (bedrooms, laundries, etc) and so I forget to get shots that can help tie things together. Thanks for the feedback, know I’m working on it.
I love the idea of using the slats, combined with plants it creates wonderful light filtering and projects a richness. Not sure how possible that is for many, but it’s a great idea. Beautiful house.
I took a screenshot of d thumbnail n thought ok done..but then found myself screenshooting (pretty sure there's no such word) throughout d video..such a beautiful space
stunning, inside and out. love the fluid interior spaces, the intimate and purposeful front parts of the house, immediate access to nature, and beautiful exterior. really appreciate his design perspective. thank you for the tour! 🙏🏼🌞🙌🏼
Really appreciate the slide about acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land and waters of Ausralia. But WHO are they? Those of us who are not from there would like to know those people's names. For example, on Turtle island, we say (at the beginning of a conference or a speech or a gathering) that we are on the traditional territory of the _______people who have cared for and continue to care for this land and we commit to a process of decolonization. Point being - would be nice to name those people. Otherwise, it can feel hollow.
Hi Robin, A completely valid comment in which I’m happy to say that recently I do insert who the people’s is. If you watch one my recent videos, you will see how I do things now (and intend to continue to do so), including having the acknowledgment towards the start of the video.
This hse looks amazing but im a bit confused abt the flow n layout of the hse. It would be useful to show the overall flow n layout b4 going into each space.

Question with homes that have living spaces with huge walls/doors that open up to the outside. Do you not deal with flies, mosquitoes, bugs & other pests especially in Australia?
I really liked the design. I saw the floor plan diagrams but it’s missing the measurements. That would have been helpful. Btwn. What is the dimension of this layout? fyi kitchen is awesome
Are residents required to maintain these so-so "historic facades? By and large, they're really dull structures viewed from the street. Missed opportunity to say something fun and remarkable. Too cute as is. The rest of the house looks great!
Sometimes they are, such as if there are heritage overlay constraints on an area or property, which stipulates that the historical facade must not be touched. Other times the owners or architects love the facade, and want to keep it, and in some cases they keep it to help with the sustainability.
Its an amazing work you guys have done! I truly love it ! looking at some of the comments i agree on the fact that it would be better if the video would be shown to guide us where every room is and have a real concept of the overall structure!
No irony, building out of timber, especially sustainably sourced timber like Ben's house, it very friendly to the environment as opposed to steel and concrete.
I agree with Alison, but also, how is this home dull? It's full of warmth, greenery, beautiful timbers in and out, the light quality is incredible... Please expand and give specific reasonings.
