This obsession with these media folks with Dorian Finney-Smith is insane lol. Vando being healthy solves a lot of problems for the Lakers. I think people forget how valuable he was on that run to the conference finals.

Thank god Claire came on and challenged this Andy echo chamber that life’s hard and the Lakers can’t do anything. The sin isn’t that the Lakers aren’t making trades just to do them, it’s that they haven’t made a move big or small to improve the team. After the posturing at the deadline, that she points out, that raises eyebrows. They don’t seem to WANT to navigate the parameters they’re in. There were simple moves they could have made to do so

Ms. De Lune makes a powerful point, You have if healthy two of the best players in the NBA, maybe the best two American players. If you are lucky enough to have them healthy you can not go a 4th season with inadequate support players. Move DLo out for anything decent and move Christie in, find out if he can defend enough to cover Austin. The Laker Podcast elites love those two and I'm at peace with giving them a shot. Oh I would live with DLo if Austin was benched or traded for a solid defender, but the Laker podcast elites would lose their excrement so I dare not speak that into existence.

@@LockedOnLakers The problem is this roster needs more duplication in the form of two way players. That’s what they passed up being idle, it’s not is player x better then Reaves in a vacuum, it’s is player x addition improving this team on the margins vs last year. A cheap options like Delon Wright is the bargain shopping they should have done, because the answer is yes

Andy, While DLo's a talented player and certainly one of the top 5-6 talents on this Laker team, he's not a fit on this team. So trading DLo for an inferior talent but better fit can certainly be an upgrade.... So a Caruso or Finney Smith straight up for DLo will be an upgrade.... Question is, can they find that upgrade? Also, Brooklyn might be one team that might have some long term interest in DLo based on his past stint there.... So Finney Smith or Cam Johnson is going to be options worth looking at it.
@giftedimagesllc
@giftedimagesllc 2 месяца назад
🧢🧢🧢 DLo is currently Top 3 and it isn’t not even close. And as far as the fit goes, he’s actually the best fit next to Lebron from an extra playmaking and floor spacing. The problem is his inconsistency in the playoffs. I understand Caruso due to him being a favorite but he doesn’t bring what DLo brings on the offensive side. You’re moving with the hopes of Austin Reaves closes the gap between him and DLo offensively.

Roster construction was really hampered by: 1. All of our players with their player option opted in. 2. Appears to be zero interest in trading for DLo. 3. With an aged LeBron, we have to keep our two first round picks. That seems to be cemented in stone. 5. It's up to JJ and his staff to develop our young talent of Dalton, Lewis, JSH, and Christie, along with getting the most out of Austin, Rui, and Vando. BTW. Watching the FIBA games as well as games this past year, I do not elevate LeBron's play like most analyst: I see a star that has limited offensive moves and walks up and down the court with zero defensive play.ie team USA got back into the game while LeBron sat on the bench in the third quarter. Yes he can still score by his drive to the hoop but stands around non committed on Defense as even a 6'1" South Sudanese was driving by him.

My proposed trade that addresses Claire's concerns: LA to BKN: D'Lo, Rui, JHS, Wood, & draft compensation (like a protected 1st). BKN to LA: Cam Johnson, Schroder, & Day'Ron Sharpe. For the Lakers: Cam & Dennis improve LA's perimeter defense as they are better defenders than Rui & D'Lo, & to Andy's concern about D'Lo & Rui being 2 of LA's better players, Cam & Dennis are both established, productive NBA players who arguably fit better offensively w/ this roster. Neither are likely to go on a heater like D'Lo did last year, but Cam is an elite, more consistent 3PT shooter than either D'Lo or Rui are. LA also gets the big body that Claire, & all Laker fans, have been asking for in Sharpe. LA would also be cutting $2M off the payroll, & opening up a roster spot. For the Nets. Of course, BKN gets draft compensation... As for everything else...BKN reportedly likes D'Lo as both a player & as an expiring contract, so they get a player they want. Adding Wood's contract to D'Lo's, & BKN gets over $20M in expiring contracts. Rui is of comparable talent to Cam, but he's 2 years younger but is on a contract that is both shorter & cheaper per year. If Rui plays well, he can be flipped this year at the trade deadline, or next year as an expiring contract. BKN would also be taking a flyer on JHS & Wood. While both were bad for LA last year, each is a low-risk, high/medium reward for BKN. JHS was seen by almost everyone as a mid-1st round talent last year, & is still just 21 years old. Plus, he's under 2 more years of team control than Sharpe (the young player BKN is giving up) is, so they have time to develop him. As for Wood, while terrible for LA last yr., the guy still averaged 18/9 while shooting over 40% from 3PT the 3 yrs. prior to joining LA. If he rebounds in BKN (which is a safe bet; his decline was entirely about fit & minutes, neither of which should be an issue w/ the Nets), then he can be traded at the deadline for additional assets. To me the trade seems to make sense for all parties involved. The question of whether LA is overpaying or getting fair value rests entirely on how much draft compensation LA is giving up. I still think it works w/ a 1st, so long as it is heavily protected...

All of the Lakers rumours or players connected for Lakers to get in podcast and media, only Bronny come to fruition....What's the use of talking this trade nonsense???
@cosmicedi
@cosmicedi 2 месяца назад
Andy keeps saying he isn’t sure this situation is in Bronny’s best interest or if he even wants to be with the Lakers. Based on what??
@LockedOnLakers
@LockedOnLakers 2 месяца назад
Several reasons. To begin, I've never heard Bronny talk particularly enthusiastically about playing with his father, much less at the level LeBron has. (Which I understand. This setup feels much more enjoyable for a 40-year-old father rather than a 19-year-old son.) However, I have heard Bronny talk many times about wanting to build a reputation and perception as a basketball player on his own terms and merits, rather than from his first and last name. That goal is undercut by an NBA entry that was totally manufactured by LeBron/Klutch/the Lakers. This is undeniable, even if JJ Redick has laughably tried. (Rob Pelinka gave up the ghost when his opening remarks about drafting Bronny began by noting the historical significance of a father and son playing together - LeBron hadn't even formally recommitted to the Lakers, mind you - before talking about Bronny as a prospect.) Were Bronny not LeBron's son, unless financial hardship forced him to turn pro, he's almost certainly back at USC or another school. He didn't show nearly enough to get drafted after one year of college, partially due to health issues beyond his control. That's just the honest truth. So it's clear, as I said during this show and several others, this doesn't detract from the hard work Bronny has put into basketball, nor what appears to be very high character. He's not the problem. The setup is the problem. It creates extra scrutiny. Bronny would have been under the microscope regardless, but it's been undeniably heightened by playing with LeBron on the Lakers in a season where they have too many guaranteed contracts anyway. Had Bronny not come out, the Lakers likely either trade the pick or draft a stash player. This was a concession made specifically for Bronny. Again, it puts Bronny more sharply under the microscope. And finally, as I've said before, this setup feels much more beneficial to the story of LeBron's career (reflecting his longevity and power amassed in the league) than Bronny's story. And while I'm not ascribing anything bad towards LeBron over this (it feels more like a blind spot than conscious selfishness), it adds to the list of reasons I don't think Bronny benefits from this as much as he would - or seemingly wants to - playing elsewhere. Hope this answers the question. Appreciate you watching. AK
@cosmicedi
@cosmicedi 2 месяца назад
@@LockedOnLakers I appreciate the reply! I won't answer point for point, but could it be that Bronny wanted to get to the league "in a hurry" after the health issues he's had to face? Is it possible that the Lakers opportunity was/is the best way to definitely reach his dream of becoming an NBA player? Could it be that he wants to spend more time with his dad -- who's been "otherwise busy" for at least 9 months of the year for most of his (Bronny's) life? (That counts only basketball related activities -- not all the other stuff/time he has to be away from family.) Is it possible that LeBron just wants to spend some quality time with Bronny and show him the ropes -- especially given his (Bronny's) health scare? Is it a problem if LeBron wants to guide Bronny in his early years? Do you think many parents think other people will do a better job caring for their children than them? Especially at something they are GREAT at? My point is, everything doesn't have to be a narrative issue surrounding LeBron/Klutch. It could be that a father wants to spend time with his son doing something they both love AND/OR it could be a son wanting to spend time with his dad doing something they both love. And they get to experience Bronny's first taste of NBA life together and create lasting memories.
@LockedOnLakers
@LockedOnLakers 2 месяца назад
@@cosmicedi I'm not suggesting that LeBron doesn't genuinely cherish the time with Bronny in this setup. I'm assuming he does. He's by all accounts a very involved, loving dad. But that doesn't change how the setup was transparently manufactured by LeBron/Klutch/The Lakers. That's just reality. Bronny worked out for a grand total of TWO teams, despite being a player who under normal circumstances wouldn't be able to call his shots at all (other than telling no team to draft him at all so he could try to find a team as an UDFA, which is common). LeBron, Rich Paul, and Pelinka have, in so many words, openly acknowledged a group decision that is highly specific and unusual for a 55th pick with Bronny's credentials. It's not a "narrative issue" with LeBron/Klutch. It's a "reality issue," because that's quite literally what happened. It's absurd trying to deny it. And frankly, if you even feel the need to deny it for whatever reason, it speaks to why I think that FOR BRONNY, it would be better to have gone a more independent route. AK

This approaching Bronny with ‘kid gloves’ is not cool. I want Bronny to do well and I am proud of his dream and his Father’s pride, but if they didn’t want him to be criticized in this league for various valid reasons, then maybe the NBA wasn’t for him. Because he did not need the money and the Father/Son legacy thing is great but it’s ok if it did not happen b/c Lebron is blessed with so many other things in this life. All the while other players get trashed like they are sub-human and no one runs to their aid. That’s the hypocrisy in what Claire was saying that embodies one of the issues with that level of nepotism.
