I know what you mean John. Some people seem external until they are gone. Barry was a very talented man who I will miss. Thankfully he is immortalized on film.
I met Barry/Dame/Genius last year, after his show. I feel incredibly lucky, I had that moment in my life. Rip BH & very best wishes to Barry"s wife & family ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏
My American self has no idea who these Australian celebrities are/were, but watching Edna's ease with them, recognition and instant memory are astounding.
One day I’ll get down to Australia to experience that “dirt cheap dollar” that you speak of dear Mr Patterson. Until then, you and Dame Edna will keep me sufficiently placated with joyous laughter and whit.
Testimony to Barry Humphries that all these people not only attended but played a part. Such a treat for them. Brian Walsh, Lilian Frank, Dawn Frazer, Molly, Colleen Mc Cullough, Sir Robert Helpmann, Sir Eric Pearce, Keith Dunstan, Lou Richards, Jenny Kee, James Reyne, Bernard King, Peter Hollingsworth, John Farnham, Max Walker, Barry Coen, Lionel Rose, John Michael Howson, Sheila Florence, Fred Nile, Dick Hamer, Shirley Strachan and so many faces I just can’t put a name to…
Get inspired fans, if you are having fun or not.. life ends the same, therefore much better feeling just fine, as best as we can, time is running out the same, but funny moments become immortal, unforgettable and funny for the next generations to come
Je viens de découvrir ce fabuleux personnage et qui nous a quitté 😢 voilà c est la France toujours en retard quand il s agit de rire 😠 et cela nous aurait aider pour l Anglais .
The Monseneur in the dog collar looks like Bill Murray...very funny about the Pope👏😄Thankyou RU-vid for keeping freedom of speech videos on you tube because these days we can't call anyone from a Pig to a Dog can we?😢 Barry Humphreys aka Dame Edna was a Masterpiece💐💐💐
And the Childcather from Chitty, Robert Helpman in the audience it's surreal😱He was a good dancer over in Australia I hear, nothing like his character thank God. Really enjoying this..R.I.P Robert aswell❤
I'm sure that Barry Humphries plays both characters Sir Les Patterson and Edna Everage - it says so in Wikipedia and in the interviews, but it does look like one leaves the stage while the other is walking on,... doesn't look like a filmed clip of Sir Les.. any ideas?
He didn’t. Dame Edna and Sir Les are two completely different people!! Barry was Edna’s manager, though I’m not sure what his relationship with Les was! 😉
@@stringer-ik1pc Ok dear, my first language isn't the issue here. If @stringer etc had written, "Her Spanish audiences are much more funny," but the show had been filmed in Peru, that statement would be incorrect. To say "Spanish audience" means that the audience comes from Spain or it was filmed in Spain. In this example, the audience would have been Spanish -speaking but Peruvian. To describe the audience as Spanish would have been wrong. So, back to your beef... The above comment by @stringer etc, "Her English audiences are much more funny," says to us, the reader, that these audiences they are referring to are from England or it was filmed in England. Now as you know, in this video, most of the people in that audience were Australians and it was filmed in Australia therefore the audience is Australian, it's an Australian audience. Did @stringer etc mean to say, "Her English-speaking audiences are much more funny?" From what I know of Barry Humphries, he always performed in the English language. So whether in Australia, the UK or the USA, his audiences always would have been English speaking. I think @stringer etc is drawing a comparison between American and English audiences. To me, Humphries' American audiences were never quite as vibrant or "much more funny" as his English or indeed Australian audiences. That is what @stringer etc is noting here. Now, why put that comment on a video with an Australian audience? Either @stringer etc was posting a valid but somewhat perhaps inappropriately placed comment, or @stringer etc mistook the Australian audience in the video for an English audience. I suspect the latter. In case you were wondering, I do speak English now, but whether or not it is my first language actually has nothing to do with anything.
@@stringer-ik1pcFingers dear, fingers. I type at a keyboard. You know, you really should read my reply, you might learn something. For instance how to communicate with other humans. After all, you asked a question of me. Do you remember that, dear?
How can a professor not take into account that most probably Bruce will be taller than most women, have big knees, wide jaw, and big hands and feet, all of which amount to a very unattractive girl. OMG the “learned” professor created a monster - analogy Frankenstein- and that’s how it turned out. Apologies, Professor Money, but a man CANNOT fully understand what it is like to be female. It’s our thoughts, feelings and reactions that make us female. I cannot understand what it is like to be male. I have observed you lot for over 60 years but I can never stand in your shoes. Conversely, many years ago, I had the privilege of working with a transsexual solicitor. She was beautiful, extremely intelligent, well educated, kind and considerate. She had amazing class and style - always dressing in designer clothes. I don’t know what to conclude. Obviously, my work colleague knew exactly what she was doing and she appeared to be happy. Interestingly, she was married to a gay male. What does that mean, if anything?
Well Joy, what exactly are you attempting to convey ? Is it a deprecation of the great actor that Barry was in his portrayal of a larger than life prima Donna, Dame Edna.....or perhaps a Wokish attempt to defend the real life trend of men who pretend to be women without humour. Or maybe women who wish to play the role of a male. I just want to reply by saying.....Barry Made us laugh and when we take life too seriously and look to find fault in humour then perhaps one should remember that laughter is the tonic that sweetens the difficult challenges and seriousness of everyday life.
@@iap-ug3oy agreed. I have seen a few comments such as this ass has made and I don't understand why people are so pathetic and sad they go around trolling RU-vid Channels of people they don't like.
He would make any thinking person throw up his comedy is, so unfunny! And he has olagiaruzss the likes of Duck Emery who was getting done up in drag 30 years ago! Spare us thinking people and take, a walk.... A, long walk!!
It’s obvious from your many acerbic comments that you are having trouble with your sexual feelings towards Dame Edna. You’re too late I’m afraid. She died a week ago. As did the many other characters Barry Humphries created over the last 60+ years. RIP to an Aussie legend 💔😢💔
