Maybe Toyota and Subaru needed to build an automatic transmission option of the BRZ and GR86 siblings, but losing the stick shift seems against the point of such a purposefully engaging drivers' car. And yet, as younger generations seem uninterested in honing their clutch pedal shifting skills, maybe an auto version of the GR86 makes a bit more sense.
