looking just like the Epics and it's perfect. This line has so much potential, imagine one day having a complete run of Action Comics, Detective Comics or Flash from the Golden Age all the way to around Flashpoint, that would be so sick.
Great sampler, paper looks good, overall quality looks good, the design looks great on an actual product after seeing only promo jpgs for months, value for money is excellent, all of this makes me happy. Finally a range of DC books I've been waiting for is in production, looking forward to buying DC's gold silver and bronze age comics.
Looks like similar paper quality to the Marvel epics, which I’m very happy about. Was worried they were going to use that matte paper they’ve been using in a lot of books lately lol.
this is the exact kind of video I was waiting for, this is amazing. So it looks like the DC Finest will go up to the start of the New 52, maybe someday we'll get collections like this for that run as well, kind of like how Marvel has Epic and Modern epic collections. One thing I'm wondering about is crossover. For instance one of the covers shown was a KnightQuest crossover. Will something like that be in both this book and an eventual DC Finest KnightQuest book? I think that's how Marvel does it with any book containing a crossover, that book will be in the trade for both characters. All in all this looks fantastic and is just what I've been waiting for, I've been wanting a definitive or "library" edition of these stories, something that makes a great complete archive. This is gonna be fantastic
Great question. We already know the contents of the Catwoman book and it only has the Catwoman issues of KnightQuest. The entire thing could be considered an event and be in the Event line, and then just the core story (without Catwoman, etc.) in the Batman line. It will still be a lot of double dipping if you are collecting every volume.
Fantastic thank you Kurtis and Tom, for sneaking out a copy and sharing with us a little bit of what we can expect! Super excited for this line of books and its great to see DC (crossing fingers) really think through and commit to a line like this. Being compared to Marvel's Epic line is not a bad thing!
It is a nice white semi-gloss stock. Good quality. However, this galley copy may be testing out a certain type of paper. It may not be what they use in the finished product.
I actually like the wide margins. I hope they stay. The only downside of collections like these is sometimes the parts near the fold can get obscured. I'd rather deal with broken double-splash pages than that.
Looks promising so far. Picking up some volumes for issues I don't have, but the print quality will ultimately determine if I replace any existing paperbacks in the future.
