Thank you for this episode. I’m 37 weeks, scheduled for an ECV this week, and really having a difficult time processing exactly what I’m feeling in this situation. Katie mirrored back to me my exact thoughts. Starting at around 20 weeks, I felt like this birth will be different with zero indication of what would be different(first birth was unmedicated and ideal in every way). I’m hopeful the ECV will be successful, but also feel what Katie verbalized, that it won’t be the birth I’ve planned for. Thanks for all you do at EBB, it has been immensely helpful at calming my anxiety.

I know this is an old comment, but I'm curious was the ECV successful? I'm 36 weeks with a breech baby and I've had a feeling this whole pregnancy that things would be different from my other deliveries (I've had 5 unmedicated births). I'm trying to plan for a C-section but keeping in mind baby can flip at any time.

@@MB-vi8zpHi! Thankfully, my “feeling” that something would go wrong ended up being anxiety and not a premonition. When I was 20 weeks along, my friend’s baby passed at 18 months due to a freak accident, and that’s when the insomnia and a “feeling” that something would go wrong kick in. In hindsight, it was all pure anxiety. I went in for the ECV and it turned out that the baby had flipped into position herself! My daughter had a mind of her own, and a flair for the dramatic- still does :) At exactly 42 weeks, I came into the hospital 7cm dilated, within 5 hours of contractions starting, and she came within an hour of being admitted. It was a wonderful birth that went better than I imagined. Week of the ECV, I had a prenatal massage at a local spa. I was fully relaxed, and maybe the position I was laying in helped flip the baby. I have no evidence of this, of course; but I think it helped. After delivery, I wished I had stressed less and hadn’t viewed a c-section as the end of the world, if that’s what it came down to. I hope you have a wonderful birth that goes better than expected. Cliche, but true- don’t stress, mama, relax. God bless you!!
