Wow just got to the part where the cops came. I was a little surprised that they were so talkative and calm. I was going to say if you do look up the ordinance you should print it out and keep it in your truck. Happy, safe diving.

This is why you keep a tote handy for your big hauls. LOL I just looked up Columbus Oh it is legal to dumpster dive as long as no trespassing sign or locked dumpsters or fencing around the dumpster. You could also grab a good box when you find one so you can put your items in them for when you get home esier to carry in the house. You need to take a roll of heavy duty tape to tape up the bags of pet food. I love fish tanks we had a 40 gallon tank & big fancy fish. If I could not sleep at night I would go set by the tank & watch the fish & it relaxed me. Then I could go back to sleep. Nice haul look up those music globes & check on the value. Then google to see if it decreases the value if you change out the water in them just in case you decide to keep them.

Your best bet would be to go to the city hall and make a request for a copy of any and all ordinaces in regards to dumpster diving and scavaging. Then you'll always have a written response at hand as to wether there are any. Also I think thurs cops were ok simply because you hadn't made a mess

Great dive! Every interaction with police is different. Depends on the attitudes of both parties. The interaction prior to this one was bad. But the officer had a nasty attitude from jump. These officers are the kind you don't mind being stopped by.

Great idea on leaving the toys. But I got to say as a mother about the snacks, it's great the heart you have. But I would not take the food just sitting there at a gas station. I've got four larger sized snow gloves out al of the time and a few stashed with Christmas decorations. The water hasn't discolored but one has dissipated almost half way. Not sure how though. It doesn't leak. Would love to refill it if there was a way. I love them!

I use to collect globes sometimes you can take the bottom off and replace the water and glitter in them if there is a plug in them. The yellow color in the water comes from temperature changes if they are in storage or a window

I love love love the snow globes!! I have several too. My favorite one is the one my granddaughter gave me for Christmas. Her great grandmother gave it to her for Christmas because she didn't get a chance to go shopping. So she just went in her back room and pulled stuff out. But, my baby wanted to make sure she gave her Nanny something for Christmas, so she gave me hers. It plays " I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder.

Love this haul especially the snow gloves got some gloves for ya Staci before I retired I use to run a robotic welder bought a bunch of these gloves then they decided to change the style an I couldn't use these so will get them in the mail for ya hope you can use them. hi there Adam and Stacy, you find many of those totes, why don't you use them to hold all the bits and pieces you find plus why aren't you using the new dumpster diving tools you were given just recently..? would love to see how they work.

If they were from Dollar General & on the penny list then they don't have to be expired. Sometimes the company tell them to get rid of they are changing the packaging. And you can change the water in a snow globe if it has a plug in it. Just take the plug out drain it & just google it there will be instructions on how to change the water. But google them first to see how much they are worth so that you do not decrease the value.

Vinegar and water is great for cleaning the dumpster items, Freakin Frugal uses it, they are great divers to watch

Dumpster diving ordinance I'd not easily worded. It refers to anti-scavaging. Almost every city actually has it 'hidden' in the ordinances, unfortunately.

I would have looked them up but don't know all of the info on them. Great hauls tonight & the police were cool & understanding. The big one is Silent Night. I can see the birds nest better than the big ones. Will you test the games to make sure they work. I will tell my daughter about them to see if she is interested not sure if he has an XBox.

I buy dented cans all the time because they are only 1/4 regular cost and theirs nothing wrong with them.

The last time a police officer watched me was when I dived at an aldi dumpster. I saw him hiding in the dark in the corner, just watched me fill up a cart of goodies. Lol didn't bat an eye lash at me either.

Carry packing or duck tape with you for ripped bags. That way you can tape them before you take them out of the dumpster and you won't lose any. Bet you even find some tape dumpstsr diving. :) If not, go for the good tape, don't buy the cheap stuff from the Dollar Tree, because it won't hold. Take it from me, I used to work in a pet store and we used clear packing tape, to "save" bags damaged in shipment or ripped in the store. Also, so glad you rescued the snow globes, they are beautiful and my youngest loves them as well.

If only we had more cool and Awesome Police like those two.

And remember to earn extra money scrapping go find some metal you got a big truck go out there and get some metal in dumpsters

I checked mine and nothing is posted other than clean up trash area for merchants. So i asked a cop a few months back and he said unless it posted by the merchant it is not illegal to dumpster dive. Glad i ran into him to ask because i found nothing on the city site.

Anyways...I hope you looked up that Japanese vase, I just put in 'Japan made pheasant vase' in google and it came up with lots of options and they weren't cheap!! I'm sure you've done your research and got what you deserved for it.
