Seeing the three of you react to this album brought back memories from my undergrad music school years. Many of the musical moments you went crazy for or were surprised by are my favorites as well. I watched some of the interviews Bruno and Anderson did, and especially liked the Apple Music interview. They talk about how this was truly a collaboration between the two of them, but also brought in other big producers like Babyface and D’Mile who were involved in the composition, instrumentation, and vocals. An example is in Put on a Smile, where it was actually Babyface’s idea to do that modulation that we all freak out about. 😉 Last thing I’ll say is that the more you listen to each track, and learn about what Silk Sonic was trying to achieve with this album and HOW they did it, the more appreciation you will have for it. I still get goosebumps at the same points in each song, even after listening to them MANY times.
Great reaction video! Just three friends vibing the heck outta this album while also giving very well thought discussions on every track. I hope everyone enjoyed this album just as much as I did!
Fantastic reaction! I dig that y'all were picking up on small things all over the place. It definitely shows your appreciation for music and what makes it great. Quick shout out to Bruno for his guitar solo in Blast Off. Tasty as hell, and leading into "dance all night on Saturn's ring" creates an amazing climax for a 10/10 album closer. That's not even talking about the crazy modulations they do at the end. So good.
There are additional background vocals BUT Bruno, Andy, and Thundercat are doing 3 part harmony throughout “After Last Night”. In the first verse Andy is is leading, 2nd is Bruno, perhaps that’s why Andy also did the first pre-chorus and Bruno did the second. And obviously Bruno is doing the runs/adlibs. Interesting y’all spoke about this song not being a single…I think they may have possibly just shot a video or performance for it.
Really enjoyed this trio! I know people go their ways, but if this trio could react to other albums I would definitely watch every single one, very relatable to watch
Fun reaction! You do mean 24 Karat Magic , not ‘gold’. As far as transition, you’re right, you don’t need it. The reason is because the whole set order of songs is a story. If you approach it from that concept, makes perfect sense. Put on a smile is pretty much the end of a chapter, & 777 is like pick ya self up & lets get it crackin…next! 🤣. Thank you for comment on glorious toxic masculinity vibe, which is a great part of the success of this project…we are men, we love ya’ll, & this is how we do it! ‘Once I give this game to ya I can’t take it back….’. In the words of Uncle Bootsy, ‘happy trails bama!’
The narrator on this album is the legend Bootsy Collins check him out also Parliament and Funkadelic George Clinton Bootsy started with James Brown😘😘😂😂😁😁🤓🤓🎙🎺🎷🎤🇨🇦🐐
There actually is transition in this album in a different way. Somebody (and I don't know who anymore) found out during his reaction, that pretty much all of these songs tell a connected story. So the connection of them is in the lyrics and not musical style. For example: Leave the Door open the Protagonist sees a girl he really likes and tells her that the door is open for her. In Fly with Me she then really showed up After Last Night then plays after "the night" ... And so on
So if you look at this album as a concept album a RICH guy looking for LOVE. Telling the ladies he's ganna leave the door open But, she has to by fly as him. Not just any woman will do. Then they have anight of passion, fall in love. Then he finds out she do everyone, so she's gotta go, smoking out the window. He is so sad he is putting on a fake smile, and then he goes to Vegas to party with his buddies...etc...rinse repeat. Looking for love again.
3 reasons, you 3 people WILL NEVER get this album....too young, too white, (even the asian girl) and have no actual idea of what Silk Sonic is even trying to say....HAHA
