"Maybe the true purpose of my life is for my body, my sensations and my thoughts to become writing, in other words, something intelligible and universal, causing my existence to merge into the lives and heads of other people," writes the French writer Annie Ernaux, the 2022 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Introduced by Associate Director of Creative Writing Ken Chen, the event will feature Ernaux in conversation with novelist Hari Kunzru, author of Red Pill. The Barnard English department’s Creative Writing Program is proud to present a rare appearance by one of the most provocative and acclaimed writers in international literature.
