David McCullough joined members of the Hingham Historical Society at the Hingham Heritage Museum for a special evening lecture and dinner. David talked about his experiences as a writer including insights into how he conducts his research, anecdotes about his professional and familial relationships, and expresses his passion for history and what he truly treasures about the process of putting a book together. Touching on his books, The Johnstown Flood, The Great Bridge, The Wright Brothers and The Pioneers, David spoke at the Hingham Heritage Museum on March 24, 2018 in support of the Hingham Historical Society. I've read nearly everything this man has written. He's gone now, but his books - all still in print - will allow his subjects, and him, to live forever.

He worshipped men who owned human beings. Hardly a treasure. He perpetuated racist stereotypes for a generation sadly.

@@MalEvansUSA he was an exceptional journalist and story teller that wrote about figures and events of American History. The amount of research and work that was required to dig in and tell these stories so eloquently is beyond what YOU can fathom, most likely being a non-contributing complainer. Slavery is part of American History. Be grateful that we have people like this willing to do the hard work and tell the stories that you would never know otherwise.

@@thetomschaeffer he lauds Thomas Jefferson and James madison who owned human beings. It’s a disgrace and part of white privilege history card that he was so ingrained in. Awful.

@@circusbrains he was your classic white privledged historian who perpetuated white is right historical preference over minorities. He was a disgrace who lauded white slaveholders. Even David McCullough would agree that history would benefit from more diverse historians rather than white racist historians who perpetuate the same racist lies

Thank you Mr. McCullough for your passion for American History. So far I have read 1776 and John Adams and I wish every politician and those thinking of entering that field of work and service would read your books. Would you consider writing a book on the Native Americans experience in regards to the unfolding and creation of the United States of America?
