Seth called out "my people" to the jackals in the audience and it made me so happy! What a treat to have Mike, who's a friend of Seth and a fan of the show, interview our Seth. I had been waiting for someone to publicly praise his interviews. He's the only one who has a warm and real conversation and you can always see the guests end up delighted.

Late Night is the only talk show I watch since Conan left. I’ve been really impressed with Seth and his team leaning into the weirdness more and not rely solely on political commentary. Hoping the WGA/SAG unions are paid what they’re worth soon enough so the show can come back.

I'm rewatching this interview and watching the last part for the first time. Not because of the content,.. I just got busy like a year ago. Great interview, Mike. Thank you for mentioning The show' "The Great". It is ground breaking. What I love about Seth Meyers is how he treats people, but most impressive is how his friends love him. They love him because he loves back. He is genuinely concerned about people and our country, his intelligence, quick wit, freaking common sense approach to this world helps me feel better. Like okay, not everyone is insane. During the more insane times over the last 5 years or so, I turn to the Kings, the leaders of comedy and common sense and yes, humor. You distill the daily News into a something I can process with hope. humor is hope. You and these select few have quelled my fears and restored my sanity -Seth, Steven, Conan, Jimmy k, Jimmy o, and prior to that John Stewart and I must mention John Oliver as well.

I really began to appreciate Seth post 2016 and more so during covid, despite being funnier in a group setting he managed to funny and authentic through out that difficult period. His abilities truly shine through in group setting. On a recent episode of the “Strikeforce 5…⚡️” podcast (the five big late night hosts), the had Jon Stewart on as guest (host) …. At times, it got a little self indulgent and self congratulatory but Seth always seemed to deflect with a quirky“yes and”, made them (and frequently me) laugh and move on. His improve chops ARE amazing, and the connection made to his interviewing skills are spot on. I would point out that there was another master cut from similar cloth: Craig Ferguson. While Craig was a little goofy, he had the blue cards but always tore them up, preferring a more spontaneous interview. If his show didn’t convince you of this I recommend his long form interview of Stephen Fry and also his long form interview of Bishop Desmond Tutu (for which he received a Peabody Award). After seeing those I’ve often thought Craig should take a crack at more long form interviews, like Letterman. I suspect Seth could pull that format off too.

For the record Zagnut was old and fading when it appeared in 'Beetlejuice' it was still around but You would have to special order it with your razzles today It wasn't 2016 and trump that caused the "lean in" engagement into political humor it was Jon Stewart '07 into the 2008 election and the young energy he was able to bring to that vote demographic brought collage people into and involved with politics through humor. Prior to '08 the daily show reformed and refined political humor and made fun of the stupidity in politics. Seth brought a new "closer look" to following a story and keeping things that need further explanation funny and interesting within the news element of comedy. Late Night has become its own version of the Daily Show in that it has a political powerhouse of intriguing humor and information with great writers and also that it only airs 4 days a week like the Daily Show too... I do remember the 5-day work week of late-night comedy and it was better. Get back to work you bums I finished that new Zelda in like 30 days.... come on man! So any thoughts, Jackals? I think if you watch more than 2-3 Corrections, you can be a Jackal, even if you don't comment. I think that if you’re someone who watches the show regularly, including Corrections, and have at least thought some of the things that he discusses during Corrections, you can be a Jackal. Though really, one could argue that by asking if someone could be a Jackal despite not having commented on Seth’s RU-vid videos qualifies them to be a Jackal, as they clearly are a fan who wants to be part of the community. I’ve been watching Seth since SNL and as soon as he took over Late Night (and yes, I have the Jackal mug), and I think the Jackal community is meant to be open and welcoming to all who enjoy some back and forth teasing, nitpicking pronunciations and semantics, and terrible puns 🐾
