there absolutely is a market for bear meat in america (and canada, which is where the movie was made), but it’s illegal to sell so only ppl that hunt their own meat are legally able to eat it. so those who want bear, esp the organs since they’re the most nutritious, would have to go through illegal ways of buying the meat if they don’t want to hunt. it would also definitely bc popular in the far north of canada where the movie is set, esp during winter, and was a common dish in the usa until the 50s.
