This helps a lot for us students to have the idea what to used. It gives a lot of new information especially what the use of scalpel and magenta ink and other tools.
Users of an admirality chart are not all native English so even if you might think that English is the only language in the world and for that reason you do not need to learn other language (French f.e.) it should be handsome to have a list of tools below so we can translate it in our own language.
Trying to find a 0.15mm magenta/violet pen to buy is harder than understanding how to do the NTMs. If anyone can show me if they actually exist, I'll eat my hat!
I'm in the same boat (pardon pun). I use a 'standard' pen from a ship chandler but got knocked back on chart corrections because the nib size was incorrect. I can now get pens with correct nib size but sourcing the correct 'magenta' ink is proving a bit of a headscratcher - I have violet - but apparently I can't use that. Has to be Magenta
