Fluency has a strong link to comprehension! The relationship is reciprocal; it is a two-way street. Fluency improves comprehension and comprehension improves fluency. When we understand what we read we read with more prosody. When we read with more prosody we understand better what we read.These elements of prosody, when taught to young readers, will improve their rate AND ability to comprehend text.
