I'm working on something similar using ESP32s and LoRa. I should have been smart like you and used an existing car, but I get too in my head about designing stuff from scratch. I live out on the edge of the desert and my hope is to have a little autonomous car cruising around out there for days on end with me only taking control if I really need.

It's cool to see this process of something going from an idea to existing, including the road bumps along the way. Good job getting it working and thanks for sharing.

Pretty fookin sweet that you pulled it off. I tried it on a wing a few years back but couldnt get latency down enough to fly.

There are Chinese channels where they drive 4G cars all around Chinese country roads..they rent them to drive and sell the 4G system online.

They literally make 5g setups for using your rc through cloud thats what the majority ofvideos im seeing shown here are using you can order them online

cloudrc is the only unlimited platform for fpv in the videos you see they are deffinately in the parking lot with an analog 5.8ghz system

I used to fly 20km from my home to my parents with an old parrot drone and LTE mod, untill some bird fked me up half way lol. I need to build a 4g car at some point, it sounds like fun... Especially since I have quite a fun roads around, through forests and such, with bunch of wild animals, could be great footage.

you should make a relay for an analog system, that can sit on a drone that hovers like 100ft up and roughly tracks the car (human pilot could do the tracking). You'd get perfect video as long as you have LOS of the relay from both ends. It's also probably way easier to achieve than any of the 4g shit you pulled in this video lol

I've mostly seen the 4g car video's never seen the buying stuff at stores with them though, I guess my youtube algorithm isn't tainted with clickbait stuff haha.

now hook up a lil screen, speaker and mic so you can yell at passers-by.

Issue with the 4G/5G is that the further you are from it the more the latency will be. The more towers are in the signal the latency just keeps adding up. Hopefully there could be a better solution.

i have a drone i can fly over 50 miles in one direction. It is possible the problem with a car is its on the ground.

I'm stuck at the networking part. Im trying to make a "any vehicle"-controll-device. I have A raspberry with 4G hat, connected to a flight-controller (pixhawk), running Mavproxy. All that is well and good. But for the life of me I can't get the videostreaming to work. I've been trying this on and off for a couple of months, I've exhausted ChatGPT on the subject... Seriously, he's just telling me to shut up now. I'm lacking the networking knowledge to do this. I also wanted to make a rover(LR RC car) at first, but with the Pixhawk it can control basically anything.

The 03 does not penetrate better then analog. Let me explain. Let's say you have analog at 500 mhz or so. That's pretty low bandwith but a 500 mhz wave will penetrate everything, including the ground much much better then 2.4 ghz or 5.8 ghz. So why does an 03 unit work better behind building? It's not penetration! It's bouncing! Radiowave bounce of all kinds of objects like crazzy. A single analog antenna system is unable to do anything with those bounced of signals because they will arrive back at the antenna at all kinds of random timings. Some waves might go 300 meter in the wrong direction, then bounce 2 km back, then bounce another 400 meters back before some of it is picked up by the antenna. But do you know what can deal with bouncy signals? A phase array system! So the 03 can work with out of sync data packets over both 2.4 ghz and 5.8 that arrive all wrong and out of order because of the wave bouncing, and then neatly assemble all the packets back in order and still give you some signal! This is something that is never going to be possible with analog, because you need digital packets that are numbered, so they can be put back in order!
