As an old Aussie bloke and long time viewer, I can say you are two of the most optimistic and likeable young people I have ever seen on RU-vid and those qualities (not fancy degrees) are highly valued in these parts. Together, you have done an amazing job promoting our country, and Tourism Australia should be busting a gut to facilitate any of your projects and desires to emigrate. Your interactions with locals and each other are endearing and Tia's enthusiasm for "Big Things" has a life of its own. Hey Chev, just a gentle reminder: I notice you're a bit pink today. The sun is a killer - Slip, Slop, Slap! (From memory, slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat...either that, or I've just insulted you). Enjoy the North but watch out for the big bitey things up there.
Exactly what I was thinking. I’m Aussie and have learned things about my own country I didn’t know. I also think from so many other countries their info is excellent and fun, and the quality and their honesty is excellent. I tried to watch other travellers, but I gave up. I only watch these guys now. They would be a welcome asset to any tourist company as they aren’t scripted but very natural, funny and a lovely couple who tell the truth without being offensive at all.
Nice Q&A guys, some interesting questions there. Just think if Tia didn't call the daily shots, you wouldn't have met those wonderful kids in Marble bar! I've been there and to many other remote communities when I was in the Defence Force and those indigenous kids are among the friendliest kids you will ever meet, we used to give them our combat ration packs, let them climb over our vehicles, we'd have our weapons locked away in a trunk before we entered the town, which of course they'd always ask to see lol. Edit - we only carried weapons for croc protection if we were tasked to set up near water or on a large Military Exercise, just wanted to make that clear and looking after your weapon each day is part of training. No live ammo unless on a croc watch shift.
Absolutely. Had the pleasure of visiting some of the islands up north when I was with the Navy on Patrol Boats. The indigenous kids showed us an amazing swimming hole and were excited to explain some hunting techniques with us. Some great memories
You guys are amazing. We love watching your vlogs. You ARE doing a great job creating travel content for viewers. We kind of feel like we're seeing the world through your travel adventures. Thank you for all you do. We enjoy watching ❤
Super curious what would make you want to move to Australia over the Southwest? I recently moved from Aus to California and love it so much more here, so I'm finding it hard to imagine haha. Not saying Australia is bad by any means, I just find there is so much more variety here, weather is better, more job opportunities etc. Also, regarding getting off the beaten path safely, I would highly recommend Namibia and Botswana! I reckon you guys would absolutely love it there! They are very safe places for solo travel too, especially with Cheveyo's mechanical know how (I would be scared about the car breaking down in the desert lol). I have travelled a lot in Latin America too. Central America is my favourite place to travel, and you can get off the beaten path, but it's a bit harder without a car. Chicken buses do go everywhere though! I wouldn't recommend driving in most Central American countries, and you do have to be a lot more aware of safety than the other places you've been. I have heard of people renting cars in Costa Rica where it's a bit safer, so that could also be an option.
Great video again, really enjoy the positivity of you two as a couple, but I do think spell check should be used when presenting written questions on screen! Thanks guys.
Some good advice I got from a friend who lives in Buenos Aires in Argentina was to go to Peru as an entrée. Don't try to do all of South America on your first visit. Distances are huge, flights are expensive and most of it is in the southern hemisphere meaning December January February will be summer and rainy season. Peru is compact and has the Amazon rainforest in the east, Cuzco / Lake Titicaca and Machu Picchu in the Andes, Lima on the coast, the Nazca lines for your drone, and semi desert in the south west adjoining the Atacama desert. www.wanderlustmagazine.com/inspiration/9-things-to-do-in-peru/
I know you guys want to travel and see the world, but you guys do Australia right. You make us proud and we hope you come back for a third (and potentially more) series 🥰🥰🇦🇺🇦🇺
Honestly if you did a meet & greet in Brisbane, I would take a day off work for it. Obviously the drinks are on me. Also, the best YT you produce is just by being yourselves and exploring new places and taking us with you. We just love tagging along with you. 😁
What a prophetic comment ‘It’s surprisingly easy to let go of material possessions. After a week or two without them you find you don’t really even miss them.’. That, my friend is a life lesson everyone could learn. Respect.
I just can't tell you in words how well you are doing, but I'll try! Your videos are not only fun, but they are respectful and informative about the places and cultures, which is really important. Also, the photography is amazing, both of you know how to capture a moment in a video, not just visually, I feel like I am there feeling the wind, the rain, the sunshine, smelling the food etc. Your relationship with each other is just so healthy and heart warming, makes you both a joy to watch. In other words, you're doing a great job!!
OMG, guys, us Aussies love you, I don't think I have seen a negative comment here out of the 282 comments you have had so far. You really are the most genuine gorgeous couple to follow and I can't wait for your next video
Cheveyo funny thing about Australia's skilled migration list is it's not all University Degree jobs, e.g. jobs on the list include: - Cafe or Restaurant Manager - Motor Mechanic And then some states have occupations that are not on the whole of Australia list, so checking out WA's list might be worthwhile, Also WA being considered regional does make it easier to get a visa, so it's probably worthwhile contacting an migration agent for some advice (I'm not a migration agent) but do know best to start the migration process before you're 35 as it gets harder after that.
Quite sure that when you bring Tia along they'll let you in no matter what skills you possess. She seems to be just one happy puppy all the time. Her obsession with all the large statues around Oz makes me smile every time. Keep it up. You make me hit the road again in three months. 😁
I've been watching since you guys drove across the Nullarbor, and I've never gotten the impression that Tia calls all the shots. As for emigrating, I reckon Mazda should sponsor your visas. Cheveyo could fix their cars and Tia can be chief barista 😅 Yes, the Big Things are awful - but that's the whole point 😆 As for meet-ups, I think lots of ppl would love to say hi in person. Might make you feel more at home here.
Your comments on the association with Mazda were spot on, the most perfect fit and understanding the expectations of both parties, so important not to have it be a commercial for Mazda, but just another star of the show.
Yeah to be honest, it made me look at Mazda's website to see if they have anything that looks good for us if/when we want to get a car, and it appears they do, so this might be the first car ad to ever work on me haha
8:36 don’t worry about viewer expectations- when you’re happy & enjoying yourselves, that comes across in your videos- for me watching your channel has become more about “catching up” with you guys than about the destinations
hey ninja , i watch these awesome humans too , they just give me the good endorphines, got a few kiely vids of yours to catch up on . they were near prosser in their american travels before coming back here .
@@muncheesuppar - yep - I’ve watched every one of their videos- I absolutely adore them & it’s definitely a good break from the heavy case stuff, not just Kiely, but Maddie too - it was super cool when they went to Tahoe - I wished they’d been there longer & showed us more of the area though!
Your doubt and fear response - self doubt is hard to throw off but I just want to say to you both that you are honestly amongst the very BEST you-tubers traveling out there - I mean that honestly. I follow some big ones and you are absolutely their equals. Your drone work is next level, your interactions with each other, with complete strangers - your enjoyment of what you do and where you are is so evident - so yeah, when the doubts etc creep in just know that myself, and I daresay hundreds..no thousands, like me think you are the cats meow.
The one that stands out with interactions with the locals was just the other day at Marble Bar, that was truly amazing and I'm sure those kids will remember for a long time.
Just want you to know this is one guy from Minnesota that’s been watching since your first early episodes….and I thoroughly enjoy watching them….seen every one and look forward to the new ones coming out.
I’m absolutely certain that if you gave watchers an invitation to meet you somewhere, you’d be overwhelmed at how many would show up. You two are very well liked (even loved) by many more Aussies than you think.
I am in awe of Cheveyo's mechanical talent and Tia's artistic skills. I😢 would love a vinyl sticker of Tia for scale showcasing Big Things. Your channel has shown me parts of our world I will never visit. You have helped me navigate the parts I will. Thank you.
You should join their postcard club and get that monthly postcard in the mail. I do and I’m collecting, it’s my 5th month and looking forward to many more.
I was typing out some long message about how much I love your aus videos and realised I couldn't put it into words lol. Just know that us aussies are so proud/glad that you're loving the country and appreciate your way of telling your experience Please keep the series as regular as possible :D
Just found your videos so have gone back to watch the start your Aussie adventures . We live near the great ocean road and your photography of the red woods and the great ocean road is truly the best we have seen . Your infectious smiles are so genuine you guys need to move here. ❤❤
As a Canberran who discovered you through your Canberra video, and then went back through your entire video catalogue, I sincerely appreciate the lens you gave us. Love you both and happy travels!
boats are liabilities not assets. Best to hire it not own it - with hindsight after owning two small yachts and losing money on maintenance & repairs, accessories, painting and depreciation
It would be great to see them collab with a wooden boat restorer Sampson Boat Co. An English guy has rebuilt and restored a 1910 Gaff Cutter called Tally Ho in Port Townsend in Washington State USA over the last 7 years. They are getting ready to sail this summer, it would be so cool to see them on that boat.
"I can walk with my head a little bit higher". Not me getting a little bit watery eyed. Please, you guys always have reason to hold your head up high. You both have so much integrity, a both so considerate, hard working and open-minded that regardless of if you have a sponsorship or not, we all see you as valid, worthy people.
Honestly for a meetup, just pick a pub or a brewery, and the people will come. No need to plan anything extravagant, and it's the best low-key way to immerse yourself in the casual Aussie culture
Yes, this is the way to go. And then in the unlikely event nobody turns up you two are just there for a meal and a couple of drinks, nobody there will be any the wiser.
@@madhonkas You won't be left in the dark by your followers... once you inform them of an intended meet-up, you'll be given a heap of feed back from everyone intending to show up. No need to supply cake, by the way. It should just be BYO.
Cheesy and poorly constructed is the entire point of the big things. It's a reminder to not always take everything too seriously and take a little joy from the absurdity of everything, which Tia has definitely embraced judging by the gleeful look every time she sees one.
I am facing homelessness because of the housing crisis here in western australia and looking at how you guys live; I'm inspired to try to think of it in a more positive way. I might buy a van to live out of. Honestly I'm a little terrified of being homeless though. I wonder how you manage to not struggle with life on the road, not having a fixed home. Its something I've never done, but you make it look so easy!, its inspiring. It must take a lot of mental discipline to live on the road
The cheesier, more horribly constructed, the Big Thing : The better! Though as Cheveyo said, it’s probably 50/50 what makes them so great: their dodgy construction vs. Tia’s excitement.
I'm glad to hear your Canberra video did so well. That's how I discovered you, my brother told me to check it out. Pity you were here in winter. It's beautiful in spring and autumn, but summer can be blisteringly hot.
Thank you for the very real Q & A session. My wife 71 and myself 68 just appreciate your realness, when your videos pop up we are there for the fun and the joy we see, never doubt yourselves, your doing life well, we enjoy travelling with you as we don't seem to be able to do it ourselves, safe travels, love and light from Perth, WA, Trev n Rose
Maybe Mazda could come to the party again by hosting a subscriber meet and greet for 100 or so when you finish your trip. They could organise a ballot and select 100 lucky people to attend and film it for the rest of us to watch. A good way to have all your subscribers involved especially those who aren't at the event. Call it a thank you party!
You guys are the most underrated/overlooked travel channel that I know of! I very much hope this changes. You guys deserve it! ❤ Interesting q and a, please.keep up the good work! Ps Cheveyo: please, get a haircut, man 😂 Ps Tia: you look lovely as always, continue! 😊 PPS: Cheveyo: scrap that, you rock whatever style you want! You just look different from the earlier videos I'm catching up on 😅
DONT FORGET - this isn't just a job. You can't just treat this as a job or you will end up hating it. Don't lose focus on why you're doing it. Love you guys!!
We gave our daughter a native American name. My wife was obsessed with all things Native American. 2 yrs ago she did a DNA test and found out she Indigenous roots from South America around Colombia. We were all shocked at how it all came about.
In regards to your doubts about how your channel is viewed, when I first started watching I got the feeling that your channel was a way for you to look back on your travels in later years for your own memories. If that is the case, then always keep that in the back of your minds and do it for you and not other people. Having said that, I am sure that I am not the only subscriber who always looks forward to your next episode. Just keep doing what you are doing, it's great.
The Big Things are very "tongue in cheek" and are meant for a bit of a laugh. We love to hate them & hate to love them. We need a 'Big Chevayo' statue in some town looking down at the tourists in disappointment.
Your Canberra video was how I found your channel (I think RU-vid recommended it to me because I live in Canberra). My theory for why so many Australians don't like Canberra is that lots of schools around the country do a "visit Canberra" trip. They always seem to come in the winter when the weather is awful, and the kids get dragged around Parliament House and the War Memorial. All they learn is that Canberra is cold and boring. I think that Canberra's secret is that it's a much nicer city to live in than it is to visit as a tourist.
I loved living in Canberra … made some great friends, great restaurants and lots of things to do. The coast isn’t even that far away. I think you are spot on about the cold, boring attractions during school excursions.
I’ve never understood Aussies hate for the cold, I’ve been to Canberra and surrounding regions like the Monaro and I was in love! I would love nothing more than to wake up to my house snowed in Nimmitabel or Cooma but I feel like I’m the only Aussie who feels this way! Why are those cold beautiful places so under populated? Maybe the more Aus grows those towns will fill out, if I could find work there I would live there but that’s the problem, nothings there 😂
@@ashdog236 I went to school in Cooma, plus worked in Canberra then back in Cooma for a few years working. I absolutely love it there and Cooma will always be my home town but it is bitterly cold in the winter. My Mum (European) loved the cold. After spending many years in the outback and in FNQ / NT, I prefer a mild climate. 😂
I'm with you guys, why would you want to plan your life out to the last detail. Life has to have some spontaneity. And don't cater your travels to what others want to see you do, if they are interested in you, they will want to see what you want to do. You guys have a great channel keep doing you, and don't live your life for others.
Hey guys, we would love to join a "meet and greet" when you swing through Melbourne on your way to Tassie. My partner and I make an effort to watch your episodes together. One day we hope to use your recommendations to plan a trip around OZ. Keep up the great work, the quality of you videos keep getting better!
@@diannecain1 our campsite is on the waterfront view of Staircase to the Moon. We have been sitting in our chairs watching it. Went to Cable Beach tonight for the sunset. Was blown away at everyone on the beach by the hundreds of 4x4s. Never will forget.
I love that you absolutely “get” each other and are so genuinely excited to see what the new day brings without trying to present contrived scenarios that you think will get clicks, that “…Wanderers” is apropos. You are not tourists to us, just a normal couple exploring the wide wonderful World that many of us will only see a small part of.
i love that you guys are back in australia. you've shown me lots of places that i've never seen in my own country and hope to some day get out there and see them too. i'd love to hear your list of must-see places by the time you've done this trip. and i'm thinking maybe mazda could sponsor your visas to stay :D
Yeah I have a mate who wants to move to Australia, but it's nowhere near that easy. You need to find a entry path like a skilled working visa or a partner visa. It's a total nightmare for some good folk who just want to come live in our beautiful country, but I guess those controls have kept our population growth steady and under control.
My man, I think you give off the "Flat-Earther" vibe in order for someone to ask you that. They want someone like you to be in their camp and it turns out to be a disappointment for them. LOL.
MEET AND GREET. For sure... You might be surprised how many of us turn up... Something casual... Pick a pub one arvo and we'll meet you in the beergarden.. and if no one shows (which we will) youll get to enjoy a hearty pub meal lol.
It surprises me that so many people told you to avoid Canberra. I personally loved the place once I was used to getting around. For the first time, short term traveler I can completely understand the antipathy as it is a city that was planned from the first foundation and it has the best road system of any city in Australia with sub-cities connected via that system. Each area has it's own business hub and shopping precinct with the main one ( Civic) having the most shopping options.Being a city geared for a floating population, it has the best second hand goods sellers in the country as every 3 years or so embassy staff and business staff get re-posted to other countries. They don't take their whole household with them , just their immediate personal possessions that they can take via air transport. Second hand books was something I totally pigged out on in the three years I lived and worked there. The cultural side of things is excellent with some of the nations best and most interesting Museums. My advice would have been to get a second hand copy of the city street directory as it would be one of the most useful books you could have there. Then off load it at an op shop when you leave.
Having watched your Q&A I can understand your apprehension about visiting certain countries. South America has many iconic places to visit but there is clearly a safety issue there. Many westerners are kidnapped for ransom and language is a problem as unlike Europe where English is spoken widely it is not there. Africa is much the same. I have friends who have visited China numerous times because of the friendly people and scenery ( they avoid cities). Again there is doubt about safety there - not from the people but from the government. Travelling is wondrous but always carries inherent risks. I wish you both all the luck in the world and much happiness! . . and I hope you can emigrate to our beautiful country
other youtubers have had the same viewer comments about Canberra, and reaction to the real place. i think if your expectations are set so low it's not hard to feel they're exceeded. it might even be Americans find Canberra easier to grasp because it is the only Australian city that was fully laid out in the suburbs-and-freeways era of the 60s and 70s
Your channel is so lovely and inspiring, but I can totally understand how challenging it can be to trust that the work you choose is the right path. I think most people have those kinds of existential doubts sometimes! It takes such bravery to follow your heart and intuition and I can't fathom how this pressure could become magnified in the public eye. Someone else made a comment about how high quality your channel is and I completely agree - both of your technical and on camera skills are excellent and the two of you are so down to earth and sweet - it's endearing. Really a pleasure to watch your content!
You guys are doing a great job, I’m surprised you have doubt about that! Your sincerity and authenticity comes through, and I love the style of travelling you do fully immersing yourself in the culture and exploring instead of focusing on just tourist spots. Your videos are very peaceful, I enjoy watching them before I go to bed to relax. Your Australia vids are my favourite, but I’m biased as an Australian. Anyway, keep going, you’re doing great!
Don't ever doubt people turning up to a meet up with you and your followers. I am nearly 75 and I would be there with bells on. Along with everyone else. Has to be Melbourne though.😂
You are such a lovely couple, it is easy to see why Australian viewers like you so much. I think along with Philly and Keely, your visits to Australia have been heartwarming and a pleasure to watch. On the eating front in most small towns there might be a bowling or golf club. These often have a little restaurant attached, sometimes “Australian” sometimes Chinese or Thai. Worth a looksee if you want to change your diet of burgers and chips!
Sorry for 2nd comment,,, but can Cheveyo be shortened? Australians like to do that to use fewer words. The default is 'mate' of course. Hi to you and 'Tee' ;-)
I can see the point of The-Big-Things as a (lame as hell) attraction for kids and therefore an easy out for parents trying to organise family outings _in the olden days_ , but these days all the yun ones want to do is to play with their -dumb- phones, these things look ridiculous and embarrassing (I'm looking at you, big potato). At the end of the day I guess the only thing that matters is whether they bring anything to local area economies... Merino & Pineapple might be the only ones I would *not* flatten with The Very Big Hammer...
That was a good q & a , very informative 🙂. Re. earnings , buy me a coffee requires people to hand over their credit / debit card information which some of us are not comfortable with , so as well as that method would you consider using a pay pal link so people can directly donate ?
