I love how despite looking and fighting like a big old bruiser, Geras requires far more thought than most characters. If you main him, you have no room in your brain for any other characters. Just like it should be.
Exactly. Some, very few. Lol. It's not nearly as viable as MK11s. Regal Presence would keep you up there and gave you additional moves to extend. Or yes Bellowing Banshee. This is all timing. AND No hair! Which feels so wrong. Except the 1 throw.
Very important to note that Baraka's DoT debuff also makes you deal a ton more chip damage. Paired with Cyrax, you can get a true blockstring that deals like 30-40% if it isn't flawless blocked.
I love Shang Tsung lore-wise, and in the 1995 movie, and in this game he is still cool, I just don't know how to play this version. To be fair his mk11 version is probably the best because his moves in that game were still easy to do and did a lot of damage; plus they got Tagawa back to play him in that game.
Honestly, this game he can be a combo hell character, especially since his old and youth self already can keep you suspended in the air for long combos, but if he faces a character like reptile or subzero who has more interesting mixes that can end strong combos with flair and your opponent questioning if they need to change their play style
Geras’ special move where sand explodes around him lets him extend combos that end with a small ground bounce that would otherwise need an assist to follow up
I've never been a Shang Tsung fan and I didn't really have any interest in playing him but then I did and WOW! He is by far the funnest character in MK1 for me. When you are doing his combos they just feel swaggy. Going from young to old to playing badminton with their character between your foot and a fireball is just f****** satisfying in all the right ways.
Well this has me conflicted. On the one hand I love that they made Sindel good again instead of just another power hungry traitor that they tend to make almost every evil Female character in MK. On the other hand they kinda nurfed her move set into the ground. Definitely looking forward to part 3.
I want to see a fan animation of Kenji absolutely cooking someone with in a swordsmanship and then, after absolutely demolishing this man actually walked into a wall while doing a cool exit
I like the basic attacks on sindel, but mk11 was not only way more fun, but way better as well, she had a 736 dmg combo for god's sake, and now she just misses the jumpgrab and the weapon
I just got the game and started doing Invasion as a way to reteach myself (Haven't gamed in a good while) and Reiko is really fun. "Imma straight double leg you now"!
Reiko is my main hes maybe not so aggressive in gameplay but playing is so SATISFYING. That hes not so fast and aggressive makes hes every punch and kick more impactful its crazy
I love how he never said any charachter was just straight up horribile or the devs did a bad job making the charachter, other than tanya of course, and sindel
Shang sung was a really interesting character created from the early days of 1980s arcade machines being so limited so they saved space ect by just making the boss literally all the other characters. A very smart save on resources and unseen anywhere else in other games
I really enjoyed Part 1, laughed a lot. Part 2? HAD ME CRYING AND HYPERVENTALITNG. Especially Baraka's explanation. I skipped back on his specifically like 2-3 times. Can't wait for part 3!
Shang Tsung is probably what I’d consider the most complicated character in the entire game history. While having his own move set, he can copy his enemies, which means you have to know how to play as nearly every character in the game to truly master him, after also working how Kenshi’s ability, Tsung’s extra fighting style… all of it! Guaranteed to be the most complicated character!
I honestly have to agree Shang shun and Sindel were my mains in MK11, I was so excited to see them in mk1 but when trying them out it just wasn’t worth it, they def downgraded my 2 fave characters.
Tbf MK11 Shang was, by far, his best iteration. You're not wrong that he downgraded in MK1 but he's still insanely strong apart from the almost complete lack of overheads
As a Sindel main I was VERY concerned after MK11... Because she was so good in that game. Her look, her moves, all of it. So I knew she would be lacking here. Boy they didnt disappoint. She has 1 hair grab and its a throw.... like really? This whole game is trash really. But its not dying!!!
As a professional Shang Tsung stan I can tell you that none of us like his MK1 playstyle much.... some dislike it more than others. Outside of his zoning he has nothing, which is crazy when you go back to MK11 where you could make him a zoner, a close-up fighter, or both, and he would still be good at both. You could even sacrifice his changing ability to get all the ninja moves... Yes, it's stolen from Chameleon, but who cares honestly. MK1 Shang's only really useful moveset is when he's in the old form, and even then it's just zoning. He's needlessly complicated, boring, and most importantly, too young and bratty-looking, for a Shang Tsung 😥
People who play Shang Tsung literally JUST spam skulls at you from the other side of the screen. Also Reiko is just really annoying. Despite him being so dam slow he refuses to NOT grab you.
As a die hard shang tsung fan this was the best version of him in the nrs era by far His morph changing adds some complexity to his play style either be young and just sit full screen or be old and fuck shit up if you know what you are doing he can be just as good as kenshi or raiden and is by far the best character to play against johnny cage
