Yes, but it’s problem is that it goes by percentage and not HP value. So even if the tanks take bigger hits, since they have more HP they won’t take priority over a DPS or Healer with Embrace I think? That’s why it can seem random at times
I don't know why that was given hate... They claimed the fairy heal was RNG and bad Even if it was that's fine with me, I can handle and target the party members myself. The fairy is EXTRA healing I don't need to stand still, waste mana, or use resources for. She just needs to be nearby
@@DrArsene359 oh yeah, I've got sch up to 81 now, she was probably still 40-50 when I posted this. Idk if I prefer sch or whm tbh... Whm was just so potent but sch kit is fun to resource manage (unlike sage) and the fairy saves you time, resources, etc, on healing so much. Moving to the next area even. It hasn't been until these later dungeons 75+ that I've ever felt the need to hit lucid dreaming.
@@elgatochurro You practically have a permanent regen on the whole raid. Even better, when your stunned or is somewhat incapacitated the fairy can still heal in your presence.
Do the level 30 optional quest "A faerie tale come true" at arcanists guild to unlock faerie glamour. Then you can type /egiglamour "eos" and then type the following to change it's appearance (example /egiglamour "eos" "carbuncle" will change eos to carbuncle.) You need to resummon for it to change. "carbuncle" "emerald carbuncle" "topaz carbuncle" "ruby carbuncle" "selene"
Awesome and succinct! Due to playing SMN, I accidentally have a lvl 86 SCH, and I have no idea how to play it. Should probably learn, and this is a great quick-reference
I picked up scholar somewhat recently after doing some Sage leveling and really liking it. It's interesting to me how the Sage Gauge is kind of like the Aetherflow gauge inverted. Gaining stacks slowly over time rather than getting them all at once and having to manage the stacks while the cooldown runs down. Imo Sage is way easier than scholar and still a ton of fun but Scholar is really rewarding with how powerful moves like Chain strat, deploy and expedience can be when used correctly. I love them both, it only makes me sad that two of my favorite jobs can't play nice together when co healing a full party, constantly overwriting each other's shields 😞
Scholar and sage can actually do really well together even through ultimate level content, although the shields overwrite the rest of their kits still work together
This just goes through all the scholar abilities which is fine but it's not really a guide. It would be nice to have some insight on which abilities to use, when to use them and which abilities are a waste of time.
This is quite a good guide! I like how you explain all of the abilities in order of level (according to category), it's really helpful for some reason.
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST SCHOLAR GUIDE IVE SEEN, all the other ones just speed through what abilities you get and dont explains what they do. thank you 😭😭😭
Love these videos! I keep your playlist open at all times! :D I'm quite new in FFXIV and am currently working on testing different jobs after finishing MSQ! Easy to understand and straight to the point!
played scholar for 4 months now, now at MSQ 90. level 100 scholar/ level 80 White Mage and level 70 Sage. i love scholar so much because its so easy to use, preemptive heals, shields and of course excog is one of the best spell in the game. Usually i asked whether the tank wants to do w2w, if yes then i preemptive excog and run besides him while doing aoe damage. personally i love scholar, more than white mage and sage. White mage just meh for me and the mana management is shit.
For some reason out of all the jobs, Scholar is the one I can’t figure out. That and I feel like I don’t spend enough time with this job since it levels up at the same time with summoner, so I feel less compelled to try and learn it. Still, I do want to try and learn it since I feel like Iwould be doing myself a disservice if I’m learning all the jobs but skipping one specific due to a technicality.
I was so dump, i never realized how emergency tactic truly worked, for years. I had understand this spell so, that i would have the heal, when i place the barrier on someone. What maked the skill useless for me. I only understand the spell correctly at the end of Shadowbringer (what improved my healer performance very big^^)
Just got into final fantasy with a friend and had no clue what the hell I was doing with Black Mage. Watched your video on Thamaturge and I was set. Keep up the good work bro 💪💪
small note about Fey Illumination it only affects "Healing Magic Potency", so hard cast healing spells not your off globals. for scholar it only applies to your Adloqium and Succor spells.
I’m here because I keep failing that job quest where you defend the Marauder from the Tooberry or whatever, and I don’t remotely understand why my heals are doing an inch of my ally’s hp bar.
thanks, just what I needed as a returner after 3 expansions. (yay sprout again) ........wth why did they merge the fairies? so confusing.... why not just make us choose 1 to our liking instead....
I love your guides. They're short and to the point, which is helpful when I'm first picking a job up and setting up my bars. I don't need to know the Savage rotation when I don't yet know what the buttons do.
I started a new character to go through the MSQ again (I like pain) and picked Scholar. I swear it makes the game easy mode with the fairy at your side healing you while you dps. Plus insta-que for dungeons. I play all the healing classes and Scholar is by far my favorite for solo play (followed by Sage).
I came wondering what's the difference between the 2 fairies, kinda disappointed it has none, at all. Great video tho, really helpful to someone that isn't a main healer but likes healing sometimes, like me
As a SCH main since 2.0, Emergency Tactics still infuriates me. I legitimately hope they rework or remove it because it's both clunky and one of the worst healing options in your kit.
@@pat1509 There are a lot of clunky abilities yes, but Emergency Tactics happens to be both clunky AND worse than all of the other half dozen AoE healing options we have now
@@pat1509 Well, let's do a cost to benefit comparison: Aetherpact: Costs 1 oGCD, provides roughly twice the healing embrace spam and focuses that healing on a single target. Dissipation: Costs 1 oGCD and use of your fairy for 30 seconds. Benefit is 3 Aetherflow Stacks and (for what it's worth) 20% more GCD healing. This means at best it is 2 Indoms and one Sacred Soil worth of healing, which is 10,400 healing potency. At worst it's three Lustrates for a total of 1800 healing potency. Emergency Tactics: Costs one oGCD and does nothing on its own. Spending a GCD afterwards nets you **zero** additional potency, only changing the shield to a heal. Emergency Tactics is problematic because it competes with the likes of Indom, Fey Blessing, Consolation, Whispering Dawn, and Sacred Soil and is undeniably worse than all of them.
@@jaesaces m I see your point. I would like a bit of a rework for scholar but not a super major one. Selene serves no purpose and I think I'd like her to do something + Energy Drain could get a Potency buff or something special other than HP Drain
Decided to try scholar and im having some troubles wih w2w pulls. I cant seem to do "big heals" fast enough to keep the tank alive. Physick seems kinda weak and i end up just spamming Adlo until i run outta mana. I love the idea of a bubble healer, but im just no good at it. Anyone have any tips for a rotation to do after the tank pulls w2w? Whats a good order to cast once the tank has like 10+mobs on him/her?
@@tasselhoff1293 it's simpler than it may seem, here are a few tips : 1- always use sacred soil on your tank after they've pulled w2w 2- use expedient as often as possible, it's 10% mitigation for 20 seconds 3- Recitation can be used in number of ways, but in dungeons the best use for it is by pairing it with your excog, so make sure you do use that 4- But even if you don't have recitation up, use Excogitation as much as you can if your tank needs it 5- your AoE oGCD heals are also tools to be used to heal your tank, so do use whispering dawn and fey blessing, otherwise they'll be sitting there for nothing 6- if your tank is STILL struggling, a powerful trick would be to use Protraction and followed by Fey union if your tank still struggles even after applying all that it can only be their fault
Though you're a little too upbeat for me, you have the absolute best guides. Just binge watched all of your idiot guides. No bloat whatsoever. This is really good content and information.
You get Art of War II at level 82, which replaces the Art of War learned at 46. Broil is similar, there are several versions which are all just upgraded Ruin, which you get at level 1.
